About Us:

Founded in 2016, Healing Himalayas Foundation aims to preserve the fragile ecosystem and cultural heritage of the Himalayan region. In response to the environmental degradation caused by increasing tourism and human activity, the organization focuses on educating tourists, trekkers, and local communities about sustainable waste management. Healing Himalayas conducts year-round clean-up drives, establishes material recovery facilities, and promotes responsible tourism practices. By engaging with local communities, the foundation not only protects the natural beauty and ecological balance of the Himalayas but also enhances livelihoods and supports sustainable development in the region.

Role Summary:

This role offers a unique opportunity to work closely with one of Delhi’s leading RWAs toward building a Zero-Waste Society. The position involves understanding and managing the complete waste ecosystem within a gated community. Starting from segregation and composting to recycling and awareness. It’s an engaging, hands-on role to design, implement, and monitor sustainable waste management systems while mobilizing residents and staff to create a model society for responsible waste practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Planning and implementation of decentralized waste management systems (MRF and composting units).
  • Oversee setup, maintenance, and operation of waste management infrastructure and equipment.
  • Train housekeeping and waste management staff in segregation, composting, and waste handling.
  • Supervise daily operations and ensure compliance with zero-waste objectives.
  • Plan and execute IEC activities, awareness campaigns, and workshops for residents and staff.
  • Develop and distribute IEC materials (digital/print) to promote waste reduction and segregation.
  • Implement a digital monitoring system for waste tracking and reporting.
  • Prepare and share monthly progress reports on segregation, composting, and recycling outcomes.
  • Engage community members and volunteers through drives, demos, and sustainability events.
  • Coordinate with RWA, vendors, and recyclers to streamline waste management operations.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Graduation degrees in related fields like Social Work, Community Development or Waste Management are preferred, not mandatory.
  • We value hands-on experience, problem-solving skills, and a strong passion for waste management. Whether you’ve gained knowledge through work, self-learning, or volunteer efforts, your dedication, adaptability, and commitment to making a difference matter most.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective community interaction.
  • Ability to collect, manage, and analyze data.
  • Experience in conducting campaigns, workshops, or community training sessions.
  • Knowledge of waste management practices and environmental sustainability.
