Job Description

Role Overview: You will be joining the bpTSI subject area engineering team as an Instrument & Control (I&C) Engineer. In this role, you will provide deep expertise in instrumentation & controls to support Production & Operations (P&O) bp Solutions (bpS) Site Projects Team. Your responsibilities will include delivering technical support, reviewing and approving technical deliverables, providing oversight to design engineering, and ensuring compliance with safety and functional safety standards. Key Responsibilities: - Provide knowledge and expertise within the P&O bp Solutions Site Projects teams - Support Safety Instrumented System (SIS) and Functional Safety (FS) requirements for site projects - Review, approve, and support technical deliverables throughout all project phases - Assist in equipment specification, selection, and ensuring technical content in engineering packages - Lead project Functional Safety work scopes to maintain facility lifecycle plans - Evaluate technical bid analysis of equipment and requests for exceptions/deviations - Ensure automation system digital security requirements are met and cyber security risks are managed - Provide technical input and oversight to automation contractor performance and delivery - Identify risks to project delivery and develop risk mitigation plans - Verify engineering contractor activities align with project schedules and bps Engineering Practices - Support project Management of Change (MoC) processes and assure quality in I&C equipment delivery - Assist in preparation of factory acceptance test (FAT) and site acceptance test (SAT) plans - Lead resolution of complex technical issues for I&C equipment - Provide technical support in hazard identification and risk assessment processes Qualifications Required: - Degree or equivalent experience in Instrumentation & Controls Electronics & Electrical Engineering - Chartered Engineer or registered professional engineer preferred - Minimum 8 years of experience in oil and gas/petrochemical/refining/chemical industry, with at least 5 years in Engineering work in Capital projects - Strong technical knowledge and experience in engineering, maintenance, and operation of I&C equipment - Practical working knowledge of governing codes, industry standards, and local regulations - Excellent interpersonal skills and experience in process control engineering - Familiarity with control system platforms and track record of improving safety and reliability in industrial facilities Additional Company Details: At bp, you will work in a diverse and inclusive environment where learning and growth are supported.
