IBDP/IGCSE ECONOMICS TEACHER

Job Title: Economics Teacher (IGCSE and IBDP) Location: Sancta Maria International School, Faridabad Position Type: Full-time Job Purpose: To deliver high-quality, engaging Economics lessons for students in both the IGCSE and IBDP programmes, encouraging critical thinking, global awareness, and academic excellence in alignment with the school’s educational philosophy and the expectations of the Cambridge and IB curricula. Key Responsibilities: Teaching & Learning Plan and deliver differentiated and inquiry-based Economics lessons in accordance with the IGCSE and IBDP syllabi. Prepare students for success in external examinations by ensuring comprehensive syllabus coverage, practice with past papers, and formative assessments. Integrate real-world examples and global contexts to enhance understanding and relevance of economic theories and concepts. Use varied teaching methodologies that cater to different learning styles and abilities. Assessment & Reporting Design and administer a range of assessments aligned with IGCSE and IB criteria, including data analysis and reflective evaluation. Provide timely, constructive feedback to support student learning and progress. Maintain accurate records of student performance and contribute to reporting processes for parents and internal reviews. Curriculum Development Collaborate with colleagues to review, refine, and develop the Economics curriculum. Incorporate TOK (Theory of Knowledge), CAS (Creativity, Activity, Service), and international-mindedness into lesson planning and delivery. Stay up-to-date with changes in syllabus and assessment frameworks from both CIE and the IB. Pastoral & Administrative Duties Contribute to the wider life of the school by participating in pastoral care, student mentoring, assemblies, and school events. Maintain regular communication with parents and guardians regarding student progress and well-being. Fulfil administrative duties including lesson planning documentation, report writing, and exam invigilation. Professional Development Engage in regular professional learning, both independently and as part of school-led initiatives. Attend relevant workshops and training sessions to stay current with pedagogical trends and curriculum updates. Key Requirements: Qualifications Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Economics or a closely related field. B.Ed IB and/or Cambridge training certifications (desirable but not mandatory at entry). Experience Minimum 2–3 years of experience teaching Economics at IGCSE and/or IBDP level. Proven record of student achievement in external assessments is preferred. Skills & Attributes Strong subject knowledge and a passion for Economics and education. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to inspire and motivate learners. Commitment to international education and the IB philosophy. Tech-savvy and comfortable with digital tools for learning and assessment. Desirable: Experience as an IBDP Extended Essay Supervisor or Internal Assessment advisor. Familiarity with interdisciplinary planning and integration of global issues. Willingness to contribute to co-curricular activities or lead student clubs related to economics, entrepreneurship, or debate.
