Job Purpose

To lead, design, and implement a comprehensive sports and physical education program that nurtures fitness, discipline, teamwork, and sporting excellence. The Head of Sports will oversee all aspects of the school’s sports curriculum, extracurricular activities, and inter-school competitions, ensuring alignment with international best practices and the school’s vision of holistic student development.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching & Learning

• Develop and deliver a well-structured Physical Education curriculum across all grades.
• Monitor students’ physical literacy, fitness, and sportsmanship.
• Identify and nurture talent in individual and team sports.
• Promote values of teamwork, leadership, and resilience through sports and physical activity.

Sports Program Leadership

• Design and oversee competitive and recreational sports programs, including intra-school and inter-school events.
• Coordinate with external coaches, trainers, and sports academies to enhance student opportunities.
• Establish pathways for students aspiring to compete at district, state, national, or international levels.
• Ensure facilities, equipment, and safety standards are maintained at the highest level.

Assessment & Reporting

• Monitor and assess student progress in physical education and sports.
• Maintain accurate records of student participation, performance, and achievements.
• Share feedback and progress updates with parents and school leadership.

Curriculum Development

• Integrate physical education with the broader IB and Cambridge curriculum, aligning with holistic learning outcomes.
• Introduce innovative practices, fitness regimes, and emerging sports.
• Ensure inclusivity in program design so that all students can participate meaningfully.

Pastoral & Administrative Duties

• Mentor and manage the sports faculty team, ensuring effective delivery of programs.
• Coordinate school representation in inter-school and national-level tournaments.
• Organize school-wide sports days, events, and awareness programs.
• Manage the sports budget, procurement of equipment, and scheduling of facilities.

Professional Development

• Stay updated on international trends and innovations in sports education.
• Build partnerships with professional bodies, academies, and sports organizations.
• Provide professional development opportunities for the sports faculty team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Physical Education, Sports Science, or a related field.
• B.P.Ed / M.P.Ed (mandatory).
• Coaching certifications in one or more sports disciplines (preferred).

Experience

• Minimum 5–7 years of teaching and coaching experience, with at least 2–3 years in a leadership role.
• Experience in an international or progressive school environment preferred.
• Proven track record of organizing large-scale sporting events and training student athletes.
