Hyperion (HFM/HP) - Software Developer

The Hyperion Developer has a critical role in developing, implementing, and maintaining Oracle Hyperion (including Hyperion Planning, Essbase, Financial Management (HFM), Hyperion Financial Data Quality Management (FDM/FDMEE), and Hyperion Reporting & Dashboards) to support financial planning, consolidation and reporting processes. This position ensures the integrity, performance, and scalability of Hyperion applications while collaborating with finance, IT, and business stakeholders to deliver accurate, timely, and actionable financial insights. A sound understanding of financial principles, data governance, and regulatory compliance is critical to success in this role, ensuring that Hyperion solutions align with business objectives, audit requirements, and industry best practices.

Responsibilities

Design, Develop & Maintain Hyperion Applications

o Build, configure, and enhance Hyperion Planning, Essbase, HFM, and FDMEE solutions to meet financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting needs.

o Develop calculation scripts, business rules, and data integration workflows to ensure accuracy and efficiency.

Optimize System Performance & Scalability

o Monitor and tune Essbase cubes, database structures, and calculation processes to improve speed, reliability, and user experience.

o Conduct performance benchmarking and recommend infrastructure or configuration upgrades as needed.

Ensure Seamless Data Integration & Validation

o Design and maintain ETL processes (FDMEE, ODI, or custom scripts) to integrate financial data from ERP, GL, and other source systems into Hyperion.

o Validate data accuracy, troubleshoot discrepancies, and implement automated reconciliation checks to ensure integrity.

Develop Financial Reports & Dashboards

o Create standard and ad-hoc financial reports using Hyperion Financial Reporting, Smart View, and Oracle Analytics Cloud (OAC).

o Build interactive dashboards to provide real-time insights for FP&A, executive leadership, and operational teams.

Provide Technical Support & Troubleshooting

o Resolve system errors, data inconsistencies, and user access issues with minimal downtime.

o Collaborate with IT and Finance teams to diagnose root causes and implement corrective actions.

Enforce Security, Compliance & Governance

o Manage user roles, permissions, and audit trails to ensure SOX, GAAP, and internal compliance.

o Document system configurations, changes, and best practices to maintain governance and facilitate audits

- Familiarity with the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) process and its various stages, including experience with JIRA and Confluence.

Hyperion Suite Proficiency (FDMEE, HFM, Essbase)

- 3+ years hands-on experience in Hyperion Financial Management (HFM) for financial consolidations, eliminations, and regulatory reporting (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow).

- Expertise in FDMEE for data integration, mapping, and validation from ERP systems (e.g., Oracle) into Hyperion, including scripted imports and error handling.

Essbase Administration & Optimization (EAS, ASO/BSO)

- Strong Essbase Administration Services (EAS) skills for cube design, dimension builds, and partition management.

- Deep understanding of ASO (aggregation-heavy reporting) vs. BSO (calculation-intensive) cubes, including block storage tuning, hybrid analysis, and outline optimizations.

Calculation Scripts & Automation (MaxL, Batch, Python)

- Proficient in writing and debugging Calc Scripts for complex financial logic (e.g., currency translations, intercompany eliminations, allocations).

- Experience with MaxL and batch scripting for automated data loads, consolidations, and report generation.

- Python scripting for ETL enhancements, data validation, or custom integrations, REST API calls

Oracle 19c Database & SQL for Financial Data

- Strong SQL/PL-SQL skills to extract, transform, and validate data between Hyperion and Oracle 19c.

- Ability to optimize queries, indexes, and stored procedures for high-volume financial datasets (e.g., trade-level reconciliations).

Reporting & Dashboard Development (HFR, Smart View, Excel)

- Skilled in Hyperion Financial Reports (HFR) and Smart View to build dynamic P&L reports, variance analyses, and regulatory filings.

- Experience creating Excel-based dashboards with drill-down capabilities for FP&A, risk, and compliance teams.

Windows VM Performance & Troubleshooting

- Hands-on Hyperion administration on Windows VMs, including performance tuning, log analysis, and patch management.

- Ability to diagnose and resolve issues like slow calculations, memory leaks, or data load failures in a virtualized environment.

Security, Compliance & Audit Controls

- Knowledge of Hyperion security models (user roles, data filters, audit logs) to enforce SOX.

- Experience implementing access controls, changing tracking, and encrypted data transfers for financial data.
