Head of Logistics (International Logistics)

Job Summary:

The International Logistics Head will be responsible for managing and overseeing all international logistics operations for the API business. This includes coordinating import/export activities, ensuring compliance with global regulatory standards, optimizing transportation and distribution strategies, and managing relationships with third-party logistics providers. The role demands deep knowledge of pharma logistics, documentation, and regulatory environments such as FDA, EUGMP, CDSCO, etc.

Key Responsibilities:

• Strategic Planning & Execution:

• Develop and execute the global logistics strategy aligned with business goals.
  
• Manage global transportation routes and ensure cost-effective delivery solutions.
  

• International Shipping & Distribution:

• Oversee all import/export operations of API products across various international markets.
  
• Ensure accurate and timely delivery while managing customs clearance and global trade compliance.
  

• Regulatory Compliance:

• Ensure logistics processes comply with international pharmaceutical regulations including DGFT, CDSCO, USFDA, and other local authorities.
  
• Handle documentation like COA, MSDS, commercial invoices, packing lists, and Bill of Lading.
  

• Vendor & Freight Management:

• Manage relationships with freight forwarders, CHA, shipping lines, and logistics service providers.
  
• Negotiate contracts and monitor service levels, lead times, and freight costs.
  

• Inventory & Warehousing Coordination:

• Coordinate with production and warehouse teams for timely dispatch of goods.
  
• Ensure efficient stock movements and traceability of API consignments.
  

• Team Management & Reporting:

• Lead a team of logistics professionals and continuously train them in global compliance standards.
  
• Generate MIS reports for shipment tracking, logistics KPIs, and cost optimization.
  

Key Requirements:

• Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, International Trade, or a related field (MBA preferred).
  

• Experience:

• 10–15 years of experience in international logistics, preferably in the pharmaceutical or chemical industry.
  
• Strong exposure to API/chemical export-import procedures and documentation.
  

• Skills:

• Excellent knowledge of international shipping laws, INCOTERMS, and pharma regulations.
  
• Strong negotiation, vendor management, and analytical skills.
  
• Proficient in ERP systems (SAP, Oracle) and logistics tracking software.
  

• Certifications (Optional but Preferred):

• Certification in Supply Chain Management, International Trade, or IATA Dangerous Goods Handling.
