Role Overview


The MEP Head will lead the Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing design & execution functions for Semac Construction Ltd. The role involves supervising multidisciplinary teams, ensuring compliance with industry standards, managing all MEP design deliverables, coordinating with project sites, clients, and consultants, and contributing to technical excellence and operational efficiency.


Key Responsibilities:

1. Leadership & Team Management


Lead and mentor the MEP design and execution teams across projects.

Allocate responsibilities, monitor performance, and ensure timely delivery of quality outputs.

Provide technical guidance and resolve complex MEP-related issues.


2. MEP Design Management


Oversee development of HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, Fire-Fighting, and ELV system designs.

Ensure all MEP designs adhere to national and international codes (NBC, IS standards, ASHRAE, NFPA, etc.).

Review and approve drawings, BOQs, specifications, and design calculations.

Coordinate with architects, structural teams, and external consultants for seamless integration.



3. Project Coordination & Execution Support


Support project sites during execution by providing design clarifications and technical solutions.

Monitor MEP progress, review site reports, and ensure adherence to approved designs.

Conduct periodic site visits to assess execution quality and resolve technical bottlenecks.


4. Client & Stakeholder Management


Interact with clients, PMC, consultants, and vendors for technical discussions and approvals.

Present MEP concepts, design options, and technical solutions to stakeholders.

Ensure timely submission of design deliverables and address client feedback efficiently.


5. Quality Assurance & Compliance


Ensure all MEP works comply with statutory guidelines, safety norms, and quality standards.

Implement design-checking mechanisms and perform technical audits.

Maintain documentation and version control for all design deliverables.


6. Budgeting & Value Engineering


Review project budgets for MEP works and identify cost-optimization opportunities.

Provide value engineering solutions without compromising functionality or quality.

Support procurement teams in evaluating technical bids and selecting vendors.



Skills & Competencies Required


Strong expertise in HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, Fire-Fighting, and ELV systems.

Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and MEP-related design software.

Excellent leadership, communication, and team-handling skills.

Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

Knowledge of relevant IS codes, NBC, ASHRAE, NFPA, and other international standards.

Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Qualifications


B.Tech/B.E. in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering (mandatory).

M.Tech in related discipline (preferred).

15–20 years of relevant MEP design & execution experience, preferably in construction or EPC companies.
