Job Title: Garment Technician (Sample Head)

Department: Sampling
Industry: Garment Manufacturing – Woven Sector
Location: Chennai (Pattravakkam)
Reporting To: Production Manager / Technical Head

Job Purpose:

To lead the sample development department, overseeing all activities related to pattern making, CAD operations, sample stitching, and fitting. Responsible for ensuring samples meet buyer specifications, technical accuracy, and timely delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee the entire sample development process from design handover to final approval.
• Handle pattern making, grading, and marker planning using CAD software (Optitex / Gerber / Lectra).
• Ensure accurate fit, measurement, and construction as per buyer technical packs.
• Supervise and guide the sampling tailors and technical team to achieve high-quality workmanship.
• Coordinate with merchandisers, fabric, and trims teams for sample requirements and timelines.
• Conduct sample fittings with the technical / QA team and ensure required corrections are made.
• Maintain sample status reports and monitor progress for each style.
• Review buyer comments and implement changes effectively in the next prototype.
• Maintain proper documentation of all technical specifications and approved samples.
• Train and guide team members to improve efficiency and technical understanding.
• Work closely with the production team to ensure bulk output matches the approved sample standards.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Diploma / Degree in Textile / Fashion Technology / Garment Engineering.
• 15 to 25 years of experience in sampling and garment technical functions (woven garments).
• Strong knowledge of CAD software (Optitex).
• Good understanding of fitting, construction, pattern making, and sewing techniques.
• Ability to handle multiple styles and meet strict buyer deadlines.
• Strong leadership, communication, and coordination skills.

Pay: ₹70,000.00 - ₹80,000.00 per month
