Position Overview – F&B Captain

The F&B Captain plays a vital leadership role in ensuring smooth operation of dining services. This position requires attention to detail, strong communication, menu knowledge, guest engagement skills, and the ability to guide and motivate the service team. The captain ensures that every guest enjoys a curated, flawless, and unforgettable dining experience.

Key Responsibilities

Guest Service & Operations

  • Greet, seat, and serve guests with professionalism and warmth.
  • Ensure consistent guest satisfaction by anticipating guest needs and responding promptly.
  • Manage table setups, cleanliness, ambiance, and overall presentation of the outlet.
  • Recommend food and beverage options, upsell where appropriate, and guide guests through menu offerings.
  • Supervise all service sequences to ensure smooth and timely dining operations.

Team Leadership & Coordination

  • Assist the Restaurant Manager in leading the service team.
  • Conduct briefings before each shift to communicate menu changes, special events, and service expectations.
  • Train team members on service standards, etiquette, and customer handling.
  • Ensure team discipline, grooming, punctuality, and adherence to SOPs.

Operational Efficiency

  • Liaise closely with the kitchen team for quick and accurate service.
  • Monitor workflow during peak hours and allocate tasks effectively.
  • Handle guest complaints professionally and ensure satisfaction-oriented solutions.
  • Ensure all service equipment is clean, well-maintained, and properly arranged.

Inventory & Reporting

  • Assist in inventory control of cutlery, crockery, glassware, linen, and service equipment.
  • Prepare daily reports on service performance, feedback, and any operational issues.
  • Ensure all billing, KOT/BOT procedures, and POS operations are handled accurately.

Compliance & Safety

  • Ensure all hygiene and safety standards are met as per company policies.
  • Monitor food handling practices and ensure service areas meet sanitation requirements.
  • Maintain compliance with FSSAI guidelines and resort-level health standards.

Qualifications & Skills Required

  • Degree/Diploma in Hotel Management or F&B specialization.
  • 2–4 years of F&B service experience in luxury hotels/resorts.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and guest-handling skills.
  • Knowledge of F&B operations, wine service, table etiquette, and service sequence.
  • Strong ability to multitask, manage teams, and handle pressure.
  • Pleasant personality, well-groomed appearance, and positive attitude.
