Job Summary:

Dayananda Sagar University seeks an experienced Fire and Safety Officer to oversee campus-wide safety operations, ensure compliance with fire and environmental safety regulations, and lead emergency preparedness initiatives. The ideal candidate will have over 10 years of experience in fire prevention, emergency response planning, and safety audits within large institutional or industrial settings.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement comprehensive fire safety and emergency response plans across the university’s campuses.
• Conduct periodic fire safety inspections, risk assessments, and drills for staff and students.
• Ensure compliance with fire safety codes, building regulations, and relevant statutory requirements.
• Supervise the maintenance and testing of fire alarms, extinguishers, smoke detectors, hydrants, and sprinkler systems.
• Coordinate with local fire authorities and safety agencies on compliance matters and emergency response.
• Lead training sessions and workshops to build awareness on fire prevention and occupational safety.
• Investigate fire incidents or safety breaches, document findings, and recommend corrective actions.
• Maintain records of safety audits, equipment maintenance, and incident reports.
• Advise university leadership on safety improvements and regulatory updates.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Fire & Safety Engineering, Industrial Safety, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
• Minimum of 10+ years of experience in fire and safety management, ideally in educational or large institutional environments.
• Certification in Fire and Safety (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent) required.
• Strong knowledge of National Building Code (NBC), IS standards, and Karnataka Fire Services regulations.
• Proven skills in emergency planning, hazard analysis, and team coordination.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and documentation abilities.
