Fashion Merchandiser

We are seeking a creative and commercially driven Merchant cum Fashion Designer who will be responsible for designing trendy collections aligned with current market trends and simultaneously handling the end-to-end merchandising process—from concept to customer. This hybrid role demands strong fashion sensibility, a deep understanding of fabrics, and the ability to manage product lifecycle effectively. Key Responsibilities: Designing:Research market trends, customer preferences, and seasonal themes to create fresh and innovative apparel designs. Develop design concepts, sketches, tech packs, and mood boards. Select appropriate fabrics, trims, and colors in coordination with sourcing and production teams. Ensure alignment with brand aesthetics and cost targets. Collaborate with sampling and production teams to bring designs to life. Conduct fit sessions and make necessary corrections to designs and patterns. Merchandising:Develop product line plans based on category performance, trend forecasts, and seasonal demand. Coordinate with vendors and suppliers for sourcing, pricing, and sampling. Ensure timely approvals for samples, trims, and fabrics. Maintain T&A (Time and Action) calendars to ensure timely delivery of collections. Monitor inventory levels and ensure optimum stock at retail. Work closely with marketing and visual merchandising teams for product promotion. Skills & Competencies: Strong sense of fashion, colors, fabrics, and trends. Commercial mindset with the ability to balance creativity and profitability. Good vendor and supplier management skills. Excellent communication, negotiation, and organizational abilities. Proficient in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, MS Excel, and fashion designing software. Qualifications & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design / Apparel Merchandising / Textile Design or equivalent. 5+ years of experience in a similar role, preferably in the apparel industry. Experience in women’s wear / men’s wear / kids’ wear (as applicable to Amartex product lines).
