(also spelled Facilities Manager) is responsible for ensuring that buildings, grounds, equipment, and services that support an organization’s operations run safely, efficiently, and effectively.

Key Responsibilities

• Operations & Maintenance
• Oversee maintenance of buildings, HVAC systems, electrical, plumbing, and other infrastructure.
• Schedule and manage repairs, inspections, and preventive maintenance.
• Health, Safety & Compliance
• Ensure the facility meets all legal, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Manage fire safety, emergency preparedness, and workplace safety programs.
• Space & Workplace Management
• Plan and optimize space usage (desks, meeting rooms, office layouts).
• Support workplace moves, renovations, and expansions.
• Vendor & Contract Management
• Manage service providers (cleaning, security, landscaping, waste management).
• Negotiate contracts and monitor service performance.
• Budgeting & Cost Control
• Prepare facility budgets, track expenses, and find ways to reduce costs.
• Asset & Inventory Management
• Track facility assets, equipment lifecycle, and maintenance records.
• Sustainability & Energy Efficiency
• Implement energy-saving initiatives and sustainability programs.
• Monitor utility usage and reduce waste.
• Customer/Employee Support
• Respond to facility-related needs from staff or building users.
• Maintain a comfortable, functional, and productive workplace environment.
