Job Description

Key Responsibilities

1. Team Leadership and Management:

  • Supervise, mentor, and train fabrication personnel (welders, machinists, fitters, etc.).
  • Schedule and assign daily tasks to optimize workflow and meet production deadlines.
  • Conduct performance evaluations, manage disciplinary issues, and promote a positive team culture.

2. Production and Quality Control:

  • Oversee the execution of all fabrication activities, including cutting, welding, forming, and assembly, ensuring adherence to engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
  • Implement and maintain rigorous quality control procedures, inspecting finished products for conformance to standards (e.g., AWS/ASME welding codes).
  • Minimize scrap, rework, and waste through process optimization and proper material handling.

3. Safety and Compliance:

  • Enforce all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and environmental compliance standards.
  • Conduct regular safety meetings, risk assessments, and equipment checks to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Ensure all team members utilize appropriate PPE and follow safe operating procedures for machinery and tools.

4. Operational Efficiency:

  • Monitor production metrics (e.g., throughput, utilization, on-time delivery) and implement corrective actions to improve performance.
  • Manage inventory of raw materials, consumables (e.g., welding wire, gas), and tools, ensuring adequate supply without excess.
  • Troubleshoot production issues related to equipment, materials, and processes.

5. Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate records of production output, labor hours, material usage, and equipment maintenance.
  • Report on production status, challenges, and proposed improvements to the Production Manager.
  • Assist in estimating labor and material costs for new projects.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. A vocational degree, technical certification, or Associates degree in Manufacturing Technology, Welding, or a related field is highly preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in a fabrication or manufacturing environment, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or lead role.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Expertise in reading and interpreting complex engineering blueprints, schematics, and welding symbols.
  • Proficiency in various welding processes (e.g., MIG, TIG, Stick) and fabrication techniques (cutting, bending, forming).
  • Familiarity with CNC machinery, press brakes, shears, and other metalworking equipment.
  • Knowledge of quality standards (e.g., ISO 9001) and industry-specific codes (e.g., AWS D1.1).
  • Soft Skills: Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Proven ability to motivate teams and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to lift, carry, and push up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Visual acuity necessary to inspect fabrication work and read detailed blueprints.

Reporting Structure

This position typically reports to the Production Manager

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹30,000.00 per month
