Mechanical Engineer – Liquid Cooling (CDU)
Short Summary
We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer with experience in product design and development of thermal or fluid-based systems. This role supports the design of Coolant Distribution Units used in data center liquid cooling. It involves contributing to new product development and engineering-to-order projects through concept design, validation, and production release, working closely with cross-functional teams across regions.
Job Summary
This position supports the development of new liquid cooling products within Vertiv’s Thermal business. The Mechanical Engineer works across mechanical, thermal, and electrical disciplines to design, develop, and release components and assemblies for high-density data center cooling applications.You will be part of a collaborative global team that takes ideas from concept through validation and into production. The work combines hands-on design, analysis, and problem-solving with coordination across engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and test functions to deliver reliable and cost-effective products.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the design and development of liquid cooling systems such as Rear Door Heat Exchangers and Coolant Distribution Units.
- Participate in concept creation, component design, and detailed modeling using PTC Creo.
- Work through the NPDI process to release complete product documentation using PLM tools such as Oracle PD Cloud or Windchill.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to balance design performance, cost, and manufacturing feasibility.
- Support prototype builds, testing, and validation, including data analysis and issue resolution.
- Integrate feedback from test results, suppliers, and manufacturing to improve design quality and reduce complexity.
- Maintain documentation accuracy including BOMs, drawings, and change records.
- Participate in cost, quality, and manufacturability improvement efforts.
Skills And Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
- Experience in mechanical product design and development.
- Proficiency in PTC Creo and understanding of Model-Based Definition.
- Familiarity with PLM systems such as Oracle PD Cloud or Windchill.
- Understanding of thermal systems, fluid mechanics, and component selection.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work effectively in global, multi-disciplinary teams.
Preferred
- Experience in HVAC, hydronics, or data center cooling.
- Exposure to CFD or FEA analysis.
- Experience working directly with suppliers or manufacturing teams.
