EHR Integration & Migration Engineer

We are seeking an EHR Integration & Migration Engineer to support the execution of a large-scale Cerner to Epic migration program.

This individual will work closely with data migration leads, Epic analysts, and technical architects to build, test, and deploy data pipelines, interfaces, and validation routines that ensure accuracy, integrity, and compliance during migration.

This is a hands-on technical role requiring strong SQL/ETL skills, familiarity with Epic integration tools (Bridges, Interconnect, FHIR APIs), and a solid understanding of healthcare data standards such as HL7 and HIPAA.

Key Responsibilities

• 
  Execute data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes for migrating Cerner data into Epic systems.

• 
  Develop and maintain SQL scripts, ETL workflows, and data mappings for structured and unstructured data.

• 
  Support the configuration, testing, and troubleshooting of Epic Bridges interfaces, FHIR, and HL7 v2.x connections.

• 
  Participate in integration testing, mock conversions, and go-live cutovers under guidance from senior leads.

• 
  Assist in data validation, audit trail documentation, and error reconciliation to ensure data accuracy.

• 
  Collaborate with Epic analysts to validate migrated datasets across patient, encounter, and billing domains.

• 
  Maintain technical documentation, including mapping sheets, data dictionaries, and migration logs.

• 
  Support implementation of access control, encryption, and data protection measures for PHI.

• 
  Provide on-site or remote support during go-live and early post-migration stabilization.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Health Informatics, or related technical field.

• 
  2–5 years of experience in EHR or healthcare data integration projects.

• 
  Hands-on experience with:

• 
  Epic Bridges, Interconnect, or Caboodle

• 
  HL7, FHIR, and REST-based APIs

• 
  ETL tools (Informatica, SSIS, Talend) or scripting languages (Python, PowerShell)

• 
  SQL Server, Oracle, or similar relational databases

• 
  Familiarity with Cerner Millennium data structures (preferred).

• 
  Working knowledge of HIPAA, HITECH, and PHI data handling standards.

• 
  Strong analytical, debugging, and documentation skills.

Preferred Skills

• 
  Exposure to Epic Clarity or Epic Caboodle reporting environments.

• 
  Basic experience with Linux scripting, SFTP data transfer, and cloud-based storage.

• 
  Understanding of interoperability frameworks and healthcare data validation methods.

• 
  Certification or coursework in HL7 / FHIR / Epic interfaces (advantageous).
