Amazon is seeking an experienced leader for Director of World Wide (WW) Selection Acceleration Organization within Retail Business Service (RBS) team to own the vision of Selection Acceleration Organization. We are looking for a leader with proven experience in leading large-scale programs, demonstrating a tech-first approach and successful product implementations. As part of the RBS team, the Selection Acceleration team’s vision is to accelerate product sales on Amazon by (i) reducing the time taken for products from offer creation on the Amazon website to achieving a sale, (ii) Ensuring all relevant products for all customers are always available to purchase on the Amazon website, and (iii) ensuring all inventory available at Fulfilment centers is available for sale by improving efficiency. Our scope includes all countries where Amazon operates. To succeed with this vision, we systematically eliminate defects in upstream systems, including forecasting, purchase order management, inventory placement, and search. To accelerate and excel in our execution, we eliminate defects upstream, or leverage scalable tech solutions to expand our programs globally. As the leader of this global organization, you will be responsible for managing the end-to-end RBS Selection Acceleration organization including Selection, Availability, Discoverability, Inventory Optimization, Amazon Global stores and Emerging market engagements. This global charter includes: (i) Driving topline (WW metrics and financial impact) and bottom line (resource investment) impact, (ii) Defining a 3-year plan, pilots, feature launches, and global expansion, (iii) Leading by example, passionate about operational performance and high quality delivery, (iv) Setting the tempo for defect reduction through continuous improvement and driving accountability across multiple business units to deliver large-scale, high-visibility, high-impact projects, (v) Driving a tech-first thought process and building scalable solutions (vi) Making trade-offs to invest and ensure returns are achieved, and (vii) Hiring and develop the team and growth plans Key job responsibilities
  • Lead through leaders, set the vision for the organization and drive teams to achieve it
  • Drive defect elimination followed by a tech-first thought process in the team
  • Identify stakeholders across various teams in Amazon and build engagement to influence them to drive impact
  • Build partnerships with teams within and outside RBS to double down on impact
  • Ensure all solutions are customer backward and scalable

  • Ability to identify opportunities to drive the organization’s vision
  • Ability to think customer first, collaborate with stakeholders while maintaining Amazon’s high bar for both your and stakeholder team’s deliverables
  • Ability to monitor metrics while considering anecdotal input to continuously improve process/solutions
  • Successfully leading diverse, multi-lingual teams from various ethnic backgrounds
  • A problem solver who does not hesitate to dive deep with the team and solve customer problems
  • Ability to think big, challenge status quo, and inspire the team to innovate and question fundamental assumptions
  • Strategic and systems thinking with the ability to conceptualize and drive automation in the organization

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Fulltime MBA or equivalent
  • Minimum 10 + years in managing projects that require interacting with customers/stakeholders
  • Hands on experience in Retail, eCommerce and supply chain functions
  • Experience in complex cross-functional launches partnering with central teams


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Technical background preferred (B.Tech/B.E.)
  • Familiarity or experience with autonomous systems and machine learning is a plus for this role.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation skills; excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Proven analytical and quantitative skills; ability to use hard data and metrics to back up assumptions and develop project business cases.
  • Demonstrated agility in thriving within fast-paced and innovative environments
  • Experience in working with diverse set of team members, stakeholders and customers
