As Engineering Director in Finance Data and Technology (D&T) Actuarial Reserving, you will
lead a team of Engineering Managers. You will be responsible for driving the strategic direction
of the technology architecture, ensuring delivery excellence, and fostering a culture of
innovation and collaboration.
You will:
• Drive IT Architecture across your product area in alignment with Organization's standards
• Analyze high-level business requirements and integrate them into the application
landscape.
• Be accountable for non-functional aspects such as performance, reliability, and security
• Be actively involved in prioritizing project deliveries and change requests
• Continuously optimize the actuarial reserving system landscapes
• Oversee resource planning and cloud cost management
• Ensure teams adhere to development best practices and internal standards
• Oversee people management, performance feedback, development planning, and
formal reviews.
• Participate in Organization's wide IT initiatives
• Co-lead a product area together with the Product & Delivery Director, ensuring
seamless collaboration between engineering and product functions (What and How)
Key Responsibilities:
• Define and execute the technology strategy for your domain, aligned with business
goals.
• Lead and mentor Engineering Managers
• Oversee architectural decisions and technical standards across teams.
• Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders including actuaries, Product & Delivery
Directors, Engineering Directors, and operation teams.
• Ensure compliance with internal governance frameworks and external regulatory
requirements.
• Drive continuous improvement in engineering practices, tooling, and delivery pipelines.
• Contribute to Organization's wide technology and engineering initiatives.
About you: (education, linguistic ability, professional experience, leadership qualities, soft skills)
As a successful candidate for this role, you possess:
• Proven leadership experience in engineering management within insurance/financial
services
• Strong background as software engineer
• Strong understanding of modern software architecture, cloud platforms (Azure) and
data engineering, including working on a Spark based platform
• Preferably experience with Java, Python, Databricks, Angular
• Excellent relational database skills (modelling, SQL) and track record working with
structured financial data
• Proven experience in the actuarial reserving business domain, exposure to both P&C
and L&H a plus
• Solid understanding of actuarial modelling platforms incl. market standard SW and
integrations to financial reporting systems
• Proven experience implementing complex actuarial and/or finance system capabilities
and guiding platform change
• Ability to lead through influence and drive change across complex environments
• Experience leading distributed teams across different locations and cultures
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills in English
