DGM/GM - Legal Head - Real Estate

Our client, a Leading Real Estate group is looking out for a Legal Head (DGM / GM – Legal) to be based at Lucknow.

Position Summary

The Legal Head will lead the legal function of the group, ensuring statutory and regulatory compliance, managing litigation, overseeing land acquisition due diligence, drafting contracts, and advising the management on legal risk mitigation strategies. The role requires strong knowledge of real estate laws and local regulations in Uttar Pradesh.

Key Responsibilities

1. Legal Advisory & Risk Mitigation

• Provide legal counsel to senior management on business strategies, legal implications, and risk exposure.
• Advise on regulatory changes and ensure compliance with RERA, Stamp Act, Land Acquisition Laws, Environment laws, etc.

2. Land & Property Due Diligence

• Conduct comprehensive due diligence for land acquisition and joint development agreements (JDA).
• Ensure title verification, mutation, and encumbrance checks in coordination with local authorities and legal consultants.

3. Contracts & Agreements

• Draft, vet, and negotiate MOUs, sale deeds, lease agreements, construction contracts, NDAs, etc.
• Standardize templates and maintain a contract repository for ongoing and upcoming projects.

4. Litigation Management

• Handle all legal disputes including civil, criminal, RERA, consumer cases, arbitration, and labor matters.
• Coordinate with external lawyers, attend court hearings, and ensure timely resolution of cases.

5. Compliance & Statutory Requirements

• Ensure compliance with all applicable laws: RERA, Labor Laws, Companies Act, etc.
• Liaison with local authorities for approvals, sanctions, and clearances.

Required Skills & Experience

• Qualification

  : LLB / LLM from a reputed university

• Experience

  : 12–15 years of experience, with minimum 5 years in real estate legal matters.

• Expertise

  : Real estate laws, land acquisition, litigation, RERA, contract law, regulatory compliance

• Soft Skills

  : Strong negotiation skills, excellent communication, analytical thinking, and attention to detail

• Languages

  : Proficiency in English and Hindi; working knowledge of legal terminology in both
