DevOps / Platform Engineer – MonkCI

MonkCI is building a high-performance CI runner platform designed for engineering teams that require reliable, secure, and fast build environments. We are looking for an experienced DevOps / Platform Engineer to help us design, operate, and scale our Kubernetes- and GCP-based infrastructure.

Role Overview

You will be responsible for establishing the core infrastructure that powers MonkCI — including runner lifecycle management, secure multi-tenant isolation, observability, and cost-efficient autoscaling. This is an opportunity to join at an early stage and work closely with the founders on a technically demanding product.

Key Responsibilities

Design, deploy, and maintain Kubernetes (GKE) workloads for CI runner orchestration.

Implement secure, multi-tenant environments with proper RBAC, secret management, and isolation.

Set up and optimize build and caching flows (e.g. BuildKit, remote cache, container registries).

Automate infrastructure using Terraform and Helm for reproducible, environment-based deployments.

Instrument monitoring and logging for CI workloads, including runner startup times and job success rates.

Collaborate with the product/engineering team to integrate GitHub Actions/self-hosted runner flows.

Required Skills & Experience

Strong hands-on experience with Kubernetes (preferably GKE) in production.

Good understanding of GCP services (GKE, VPC/networking, service accounts, workload identity/OIDC).

Proven experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) and Helm.

Familiarity with CI/CD systems, ideally GitHub Actions and self-hosted runners.

Ability to troubleshoot across the stack: CI → controller/operator → Kubernetes → node.

Strong focus on security, reliability, and performance.

Nice to Have

Exposure to Kubernetes operators/controllers (e.g. actions-runner-controller).

Working knowledge of Go (for reading/extending controllers).

Experience running untrusted or bursty workloads (CI, ML jobs, data pipelines).

Cost optimization experience on Kubernetes/GCP.
