Design cum Proposal Engineer – Water Treatment CompanyKey Roles and Responsibilities

1. Proposal Engineering

• Prepare detailed technical and commercial proposals for water treatment projects such as RO (Reverse Osmosis), Softener, UF (Ultrafiltration), STP (Sewage Treatment Plant), ETP (Effluent Treatment Plant), DM (Demineralization), EDI (Electrodeionization), UV systems, and ZLD (Zero Liquid Discharge) systems.
• Review tender documents, BOQs, drawings, and specifications; raise queries to clients or consultants where required.
• Perform process design calculations and generate process flow diagrams (PFD), piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID), and general arrangement (GA) drawings for proposed solutions.
• Select and size equipment/components like pumps, membranes, tanks, dosing systems, valves, instruments, etc.
• Prepare scope of work, exclusions, price break-ups, and coordinate with suppliers/OEMs for accurate costing.

2. Technical Support

• Support sales team by providing technical clarifications and attending client/consultant meetings for proposal discussion.
• Assist in clarification of technical queries during pre- and post-bid stages.
• Prepare technical presentations for client meetings and bid defenses.

3. Design Engineering

• Develop detailed designs and layouts in line with project requirements and relevant codes/standards.
• Ensure layouts are optimized for efficiency, serviceability, and safety.
• Validate and review supplier and vendor drawings during the proposal stage for compatibility with design intent.

4. Coordination & Documentation

• Coordinate with in-house multidisciplinary teams including process, mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation engineers for design and proposal preparation.
• Ensure timely preparation and submission of proposals as per client deadlines and follow up for clarifications or revisions.
• Compile and maintain proposal documentation, data sheets, technical compliance, and deviation lists.

5. Value Engineering

• Identify and recommend value engineering options to optimize project cost without compromising quality.
• Stay updated with the latest advances in water treatment technologies and suggest suitable upgrades in proposals where beneficial.

6. Costing & Estimation

• Prepare cost estimates, optimizing sourcing from OEMs/vendors and in-house fabrication.
• Compare historical data, update price lists, and track cost drivers affecting quotation accuracy.

7. Compliance

• Ensure all designs and proposals comply with statutory, environmental, and client-specific standards.

Desired Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical/Environmental/Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent) preferred.
• Minimum 3-5 years of relevant experience in water/wastewater treatment industry.
• Strong knowledge of design principles for systems such as RO, UF, STP, ETP, DM, EDI, UV, ZLD, and softeners.
• Proficiency with design and drafting software (AutoCAD, Plant 3D, or similar).
• Excellent communication, inter-departmental coordination, and technical writing skills.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and time management abilities

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹45,000.00 per month
