Key Responsibilities
Lead the design implementation and maintenance of DB2 and IMS databases on IBM zOS platforms
Perform advanced performance tuning capacity planning and disaster recovery strategies
Manage database migrations version upgrades and patching with minimal downtime
Monitor and resolve complex database issues using tools like OMEGAMON BMC MainView CA Detector and APPTUNE
Collaborate with application teams to optimize SQL queries stored procedures and data models
Implement and enforce database security policies including access controls and auditing
Automate routine DBA tasks using JCL REXX and scheduling tools like CA7 or ESP
Provide 24x7 support for production environments and lead oncall rotations
Participate in AgileScrum ceremonies sprint planning and release management
Required SkillsTechnologies
Deep expertise in
DB2 for zOS v10 and above and IMS DBDC
JCL COBOL CICS VSAM RACF ACF2
Utilities REORG RUNSTATS LOADUNLOAD COPY RECOVER MODIFY
Experience with
Data replication tools eg IBM InfoSphere
Database modeling tools eg CA Erwin IBM Data Studio
Change management tools eg Endevor ChangeMan
Strong understanding of data sharing Sysplex and high availability configurations
EducationCertifications
Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science Information Systems or related field
Preferred IBM Certified Database Administrator DB2 for zOS or equivalent
