Job Summary
As a Data Engineer and DBA, you will perform administration of our database and analytics platform, including MySQL, Postgres, MongoDB, Microsoft SQL server, and Oracle as well as collection of data lake in a large technology ecosystem. You will ensure the smooth operations of systems including uptime and performance. As a technical expert for our data and analytics ecosystem you will support the Engineering Organization.Job Requirements
Core Responsibilities:
- Manage and optimize databases (performance tuning, troubleshooting, upgrades, patches).
- Ensure data security, backup, and recovery strategies.
- Handle incident management systems (e.g., ServiceNow).
- Automate recurring tasks and maintain data pipelines/ETL processes.
- Monitor system performance, logs, and conduct security audits.
- Collaborate with stakeholders for secure database and analytics operations (including data lake and BI tools).
- Support capacity planning, scalability, and cloud cost optimization.
- Provide after-hours support and develop project work plans.
Technical Expertise:
- Strong knowledge of database concepts and implementation.
- Hands-on experience with major DBMS: PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, Oracle, MongoDB.
- Proficiency in SQL and query optimization.
- Familiarity with Linux and Windows OS.
- Knowledge of infrastructure (OS, networking), cloud administration, and data security models.
- Experience with CI/CD, DevOps tools (Bitbucket, GitHub Actions).
- Agile methodologies in cloud, database, data warehousing, and BI environments.
Preferred Skills:
- Cloud database services (e.g., AWS RDS).
- Scripting languages (Python, Bash).
Education
- A Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience, master's degree is a plus
- Minimum of 5 years of software development experience, 7 years is preferred
