This internship provides a valuable opportunity to gain hands-on experience in cybersecurity, work on real-world security assessments, and develop skills essential for building a successful career in the cybersecurity domain. 

By the end of this internship, you will have acquired the practical skills and knowledge necessary to excel in the field of software development, setting you on a path to becoming a successful and well-rounded software engineer. 

Responsibilities:

• Conduct vulnerability assessments, penetration testing, and security audits on web applications, APIs, networks, and cloud infrastructure  
• Perform manual and automated security testing using industry-standard tools and methodologies. 
• Monitor networks, applications, and systems for security threats or intrusions. 
• Deploy, configure, and manage security tools (firewalls, SIEM, IDS/IPS, endpoint protection). 
• Analyze security incidents, perform root cause analysis, and lead incident response activities. 
• Research and document emerging cybersecurity threats, attack vectors, and mitigation techniques. 
• Collaborate with development teams to identify, prioritize, and remediate security vulnerabilities. 
• Develop and maintain security testing scripts and automation tools. 
• Ensure adherence to cybersecurity standards (OWASP, NIST, ISO 27001) and compliance requirements. 
• Create comprehensive security assessment reports with actionable recommendations 

Necessary Skills:

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or Cybersecurity. 
• Strong understanding of OWASP Top 10, and common attack vectors (SQL Injection, XSS, CSRF, SSRF, etc.). 
• Proficiency with security tools: Burp Suite, Metasploit, Nmap, Nessus, OWASP ZAP, Nikto, SQLMap. 
• Experience with network security concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/HTTPS, SSL/TLS). 
• Experience with API security testing (REST, GraphQL). 
• Knowledge of operating systems security (Linux, Windows). 
• Basic programming/scripting skills in Python, Bash, or PowerShell for automation and exploit development. 
• Familiarity with secure coding practices and code review processes. 
• Experience with cloud security (AWS, Azure, or GCP) is a plus. 

Desired Internship Eligibility:

• Are available for full time (in-office) internship 
• Can start the internship in a week or two. 
• Are available for duration of 6 months 
• Are from or open to relocate to Salem office 
• Have relevant skills and interests. 
• Has previous internship/work experience. 
• Has aspiration for a career in Software Development 
• Demonstrated programming experience 
• Having any programming knowledge can be highly advantageous.
