15 years full time educationSummary: As a Custom Software Engineer, you will engage in the development of custom software solutions that involve designing, coding, and enhancing various components across systems or applications. Your typical day will include collaborating with cross-functional teams, utilizing modern frameworks, and applying agile practices to deliver scalable and high-performing solutions that meet specific business requirements. You will also be involved in troubleshooting and optimizing existing software components to ensure they align with the latest technological advancements and business goals. Roles & Responsibilities:
- Administer and manage Datadog across multi-environment (cloud/on-prem) setups.
- Configure monitors, dashboards, SLOs, APM tracing, and log pipelines for various applications.
- Integrate Datadog with AWS, Azure, GCP, and third-party tools (e.g., PagerDuty, ServiceNow, Slack, etc.).
- Manage user access, roles, permissions, and API keys in accordance with security policies.
- Define and enforce naming conventions, tagging standards, and monitoring templates for consistent observability.
- Collaborate with DevOps, Application, and Infrastructure teams to ensure effective telemetry coverage.
- Implement synthetic monitoring, RUM (Real User Monitoring), and infrastructure metrics for end-to-end visibility.
- Develop and maintain automation scripts (Terraform, Python, or APIs) for Datadog configuration management.
- Troubleshoot issues related to agent deployment, data ingestion, dashboards, and alert noise reduction.
- Review usage reports, optimize dashboards, and manage cost efficiency of Datadog licenses.
- Provide training and onboarding to teams on Datadog best practices. Professional & Technical Skills:
- hands-on experience with Datadog administration and observability.
- Strong understanding of monitoring concepts, metrics, logs, traces, and distributed systems.
- Experience integrating Datadog with AWS / Azure / GCP and CI/CD pipelines.
- Familiarity with Datadog APIs, Terraform providers, and configuration as code.
- Working knowledge of Linux/Windows systems, containers (Docker/Kubernetes), and network monitoring.
- Experience with incident management workflows and integration with ITSM tools (e.g., ServiceNow, Jira).
- Scripting or automation experience using Python / Shell / PowerShell.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Datadog Certified Administrator / Observability Professional certification (preferred).
- Experience with other monitoring tools (e.g., Dynatrace, Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, ELK).
- Exposure to SRE practices, SLIs/SLOs, and performance optimization.
- Familiarity with FinOps / cost governance related to observability tools.
- Strong ownership and accountability.
- Collaborative mindset and ability to work cross-functionally.
- Attention to detail and proactive in identifying monitoring gaps.
