We’re seeking someone to join our team as a Director in Credit Risk - Fixed Structured Lending - Commercial Real Estate team.In the Firm Risk Management division, we advise businesses across the Firm on risk mitigation strategies, develop tools to analyse and monitor risks and lead key regulatory initiatives.Since 1935, Morgan Stanley is known as a global leader in financial services, always evolving and innovating to better serve our clients and our communities in more than 40 countries around the world.
Primary Responsibilities
What you’ll do in the role:
- Administer the collateral loan appraisal review process and, opine on the reliability of the appraisal by ensuring assumptions are supported and reasonable;
- Ensure compliance of the collateral loan appraisal with Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP), FIRREA, and internal policies;
- Determine if market values have become challenged and make recommendations regarding updating valuations for underlying properties;
- Recommend processes and procedures to the team lead that create efficiencies and improvements to monitor market activity;
- Recommend forms and tools to the team lead that streamline processes and create efficiencies in managing the appraisal review process for complete underwriting review.
- Experience in people management is required; the candidate should be capable of supporting and motivating the team
- The ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, both in writing and verbally, is essential.
- An interest in working in a fast-paced environment, often balancing multiple high-priority deliverables, is necessary.
Required Experience/Skills
What you’ll bring to the role:
- 6 to 8 years of real estate valuation experience in at least two of the following: commercial real estate, data centers or residential real estate
- Experience in conducting valuations for US real estate markets
- Ability to build internal valuation models and due diligence tools
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent time-management skills
- Experience in training and managing junior talent (at least 1-2 FTEs)
- Experience/knowledge of Western European and Asian (specifically Australia) markets is an added advantage
- Masters or equivalent professional qualification (CFA, CA, FRM, etc required)
- Perform ad-hoc tasks as requested by onshore teams and senior stakeholders
- Possess strong problem identification and solution techniques
- Good collaboration skills in a team-oriented environment.
