Key Responsibilities: Service

  • Assist Director / Section Coordinator in formulating departmental policies and procedures and drive the adherence across the department
  • Direct and coordinate activities of clinicians, resident doctors, nurses and other medical staff.
  • Participate in interdepartmental meetings, committees and fulfill the all the responsibilities as assigned
  • Participate as per the defined role during any internal / external disaster
  • Conduct OPDs as per the credentialing and privileging hospital policy as defined from time to time
  • Coordinate and conduct bone marrow procedures as per clinical privileges
  • Carry out chemotherapy in the day care following as per the protocols for the procedures
  • Treat patients on out-patient basis, admit, investigate, perform treatment procedures as per the approved clinical privileges
  • Collate and analyse records, reports, test results, or examination information periodically to maintain, improvise the standard of care
  • Prescribe or administer medication, therapy, and other specialized comprehensive medical care to treat / prevent / limit illness, disease, or injury identifying patient's risk status and recommending appropriate intervention to minimize risk
  • Explain procedures and obtain consents and discuss test results or prescribed treatments with patient and family on regular basis or as defined by the hospital policy
  • Monitor patients conditions and progress and revaluate treatments as necessary. Refer patient to other specialist as and when required after due intimation and explanation to patient / family.
  • Work collaboratively with other disciplines and health professionals to develop effective and appropriate multidisciplinary approach and patient care.
  • Conduct regular ward rounds and work at a time that facilitates efficient patient flow and meets treatment objectives.
  • Ensure accurate exchange of information during care transition and transfer of patients ensuring patient privacy & confidentiality is protected at all times
  • Ensure all medical documentations are maintained and updated on a daily basis
  • Promote use of evidence based practice and hand hygiene protocols in the wards & procedure rooms
  • Ensure that infection control protocols, antibiotic stewardship program are followed in wards & procedure Rooms
  • Ensure timely discharges to keep Average LOS under standard Hospital norms
  • Comply with CME credits as per MMC guidelines and registration in vogue
  • Any other responsibility as assigned by the organization on the need basis.

Key Responsibilities: Growth

  • Support Director- Oncology Services in introducing future specialty clinics.
  • Plan, and participate in health programs in the hospital, Outreach activities, or communities for prevention and treatment of injuries or illnesses.

Key Responsibilities: Quality

  • Ensure clinical care and infection control quality indicators are within the defined bench mark
  • Actively participate and be accountable for implementation of all quality programs to ensure continuous quality improvement in the department
  • Ensure adherence to internationally accepted standards of care, including but not limited to those recommended by JCI, NABH and other quality systems
  • Follow all infection control protocols during the chemotherapy procedures
  • Actively participate in infection control and prevention activities, campaigns, awareness sessions etc.
  • Monitor optimal utilization of available resources.

Key Responsibilities : People

  • Support HR in selection of the most suitable resources for the department
  • Set the goals for team members and be responsible for performance evaluation / assessment / appraisals. Drive high performance and professional excellence
  • Ensure induction / orientation and continuous training of functional and technical skills of the team members
  • Be a mentor to junior medical staff and guide them on the departmental processes and SOPs
  • Ensure adequate teaching to the DNB and other fellows in the department
  • Be available to cover colleague when they are sick / on leave (within the constraints of existing workload)

Key Responsibilities : Innovation & Research

  • Lead and Participate in clinical education, research, test medication, clinical tests to advance the practice of medicine as well as academic and teaching activities of the department as required by the DNB, CPS and any Fellowship programs
  • Keep abreast with the latest technology and innovations in the medical oncology field for advancing the department and implement the same with approvals
  • Take suggestions / feedback and implement to further improvise services of department and growth of the department.

Key Responsibilities : Finance

  • Assist the Director in planning & achieving annual topline budget
  • Assist Director in planning capex / opex in terms of medical equipment and instruments, consumables and supplies to support routine and contingency operation
