Hiring: CAD Design Engineer – Propulsion & Cryogenic Systems Line of Service: Research & Development Industry: Aerospace Specialism: Propulsion Design, Cryogenics, Structural CAD Management Level: Design Engineer Job Description & Summary: Celestial Aerospace is engineering a first-of-its-kind hydrogen-lift launch system to revolutionize clean access to space. We are seeking a CAD Design Engineer with experience in propulsion, cryogenic systems, and structural design to support our multidisciplinary team in developing detailed models for advanced rocket hardware. You will be responsible for translating cutting-edge concepts into high-fidelity CAD assemblies and manufacturing-ready drawings that integrate propulsion units, cryogenic tanks, and support structures. Key Responsibilities: • Design and model cryogenic tanks, pressure vessels, and feed system layouts in 3D CAD. • Develop propulsion system CAD assemblies, including injector heads, thrust chambers, nozzles, and mounting interfaces. • Support structural integration with the overall vehicle frame and interface loads. • Generate 2D manufacturing drawings with tolerances, GD&T, and material specs. • Work closely with propulsion, thermal, and fluid dynamics teams to ensure design feasibility. • Iterate designs based on simulation feedback and testing requirements. • Maintain CAD documentation and version control using PLM tools. • Support DFM (Design for Manufacturing) and lightweighting initiatives. Mandatory Skill Sets: • Expertise in CAD tools (SolidWorks, Creo, or Siemens NX). • Experience in designing pressure vessels and high-pressure plumbing systems. • Understanding of cryogenic component design constraints (thermal stress, insulation, boil-off minimization). • Familiarity with sheet metal, machined parts, and composite interfaces. • Working knowledge of GD&T, tolerancing, and drawing standards (ASME Y14.5). Preferred Skill Sets • Experience with propulsion system CAD (injectors, turbo-pumps, nozzles). • Knowledge of structural design for aerospace-grade components. • Exposure to FEA-prep workflows or direct coordination with analysis teams. • Hands-on experience in rapid prototyping or 3D printing integration. • Familiarity with integrated CAD/PLM systems. Experience: • Required: 1-2+ years in aerospace or cryogenic system CAD design Education Qualification: • B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering • Certifications in CAD/Design for Manufacturing are a plus Show more Show less
