Job Description

Job Title: Logistics Operations & Material Handling Engineer Department: Logistics / Plant Operations / Maintenance Job Purpose: Responsible for managing capital and revenue budgets, ensuring preventive maintenance of material handling equipment, driving logistics innovation, improving safety, and executing cost-saving initiatives. This role focuses on enhancing operational efficiency while maintaining compliance with environmental and safety standards. Key Responsibilities:1. Capital Budget Management Prepare reports and documentation for Capital Budget approval (IR raising). Plan, execute, and monitor capital budget projects to ensure smooth implementation. 2. Revenue Budget Planning Identify critical movements and operational activities in the shop floor. Prepare reports with countermeasures and improvement plans. Collaborate with Controls & Compliance (C&C) and Utilities & Services (U&S) teams for seamless planning and execution. 3. Preventive Maintenance Ensure daily AMC and preventive maintenance activities for all material handling equipment. Minimize downtime and improve equipment reliability. 4. Logistics Innovation Identify and implement innovative solutions to improve logistics processes. Focus on reducing operator fatigue and simplifying material handling activities. 5. Safety Initiatives Assess critical operations for potential safety risks. Implement proactive safety measures and introduce new safety practices for material handling. 6. Scrap & Asset Management Manage unused or obsolete assets efficiently to avoid unnecessary scrap. Coordinate with the purchase/material team for asset liquidation or reuse. 7. Cost Optimization Develop and drive cost-saving initiatives and innovative projects. Ensure alignment with overall cost improvement targets. 8. EMS/OHSMS Compliance Regularly review and update documentation related to Environmental Management Systems (EMS) and Occupational Health & Safety Management Systems (OHSMS). Ensure processes are compliant with legal and organizational standards. 9. Display Management & Visual Communication Install and maintain necessary displays across operational areas. Identify damaged or outdated displays and ensure timely replacements or enhancements. Skills & Competencies: Strong understanding of capital and revenue budget processes. Expertise in logistics operations, preventive maintenance, and material handling systems. Familiarity with EMS/OHSMS standards and safety compliance. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. Strong communication, coordination, and project management abilities. Proficiency in MS Office, SAP (preferred), and documentation management. Qualifications: Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical, Industrial, Production, or related engineering fields. Experience:3 to 8 years of experience in logistics operations, material handling equipment maintenance, and process improvement in manufacturing, automotive, or related industries. Reporting To: Logistics / Material Handling / Plant Operations Manager
