Commodity Trader

We are seeking a dynamic and results-oriented Commodity Trader (primarily in metals trading and hedging for both ferrous and nonferrous) to join our team. The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of experience in commodity trading with complete understanding of financial instruments towards hedging of metals, with a proven ability to manage trading/hedging activities, build client/FI relationships, and generate profitable strategies aligned with risk management policy. Experience in trading metals is highly desirable and will be considered a strong advantage.

Key Responsibilities

• Market Analysis:

  Monitor and analyze commodity markets, identifying trends, opportunities, and risks.

• Trading Activities:

  Execute trades within assigned commodities in compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.

• Portfolio Management:

  Manage and optimize trading portfolios, ensuring profitability and alignment with market strategies.

• Client Relationships:

  Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and other market participants like Banks/Fis/Commodity exchanges in metal trading and have necessary expertise to ensure hedging limits/documentation.

• Risk Management:

  Develop and implement strategies to mitigate risks, ensuring stable returns through hedging instruments with both domestic and overseas commodity exchanges and banks/FI.

• Reporting:

  Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports on market activity, trading performance, and strategic recommendations.

• Compliance:

  Ensure all trading activities adhere to relevant laws, regulations, and company standards.

Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Finance, or a related field.
• MBA/PGDM in Finance is a plus.
• 3-5 years of experience in commodity trading.

• Preferred:

  Demonstrated experience in metals trading.
• Strong understanding of global commodity markets, including market drivers and trading strategies.
• Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and make quick, informed decisions.
• Proficiency in trading software and platforms.
• Knowledge of risk management principles and tools.
