Job Description

Job Title: Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

Location: Chinchwad, Pune

About the Role

The CFO will lead the organisations financial strategy, ensuring sustainable growth, compliance, and operational efficiency. This role requires strong experience in the education sector, financial planning, fundraising, pricing models, and managing multi-location operations.

Key Responsibilities

1. Financial Strategy & Leadership

  • Develop and execute the organisation’s long-term financial strategy in alignment with academic and operational goals.
  • Advise leadership on growth opportunities, risk management, and capital allocation.
  • Drive budgeting, forecasting, and financial modelling.

2. Accounting, Compliance & Governance

  • Ensure accurate, timely financial statements in compliance with applicable accounting standards.
  • Oversee statutory audits, tax filings, PF/ESIC/other regulatory requirements.
  • Implement strong internal controls, financial policies, and governance processes.

3. Revenue, Cost & Fee Management

  • Design and optimise fee structures, pricing models, scholarships, and financial aid frameworks.
  • Monitor receivables, collections, and fee recovery processes.
  • Control operational expenses across campuses/centres and drive cost efficiency.

4. Fund Management, Banking & Investor Relations

  • Manage banking relationships, working capital, and treasury operations.
  • Lead fundraising initiatives (debt/equity), grant utilisation, and reporting where applicable.
  • Maintain relationships with investors, board members, and financial institutions.

5. Operational & Campus Finance Management

  • Support expansion of new campuses/programs through financial due diligence and feasibility studies.
  • Monitor financial performance of all centres, programs, and business units.
  • Drive automation of finance processes (ERP, MIS, dashboards).

6. Team Leadership

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the finance, accounts, and compliance teams.
  • Foster a culture of transparency, accuracy, and timely reporting.

Key Skills & Competencies

  • Strong understanding of education industry economics—fee cycles, enrolment trends, capex, compliance.
  • Expertise in financial planning & analysis (FP&A), taxation, audit, and internal controls.
  • Ability to manage multi-location finance operations.
  • Strong negotiation skills with banks, vendors, auditors, and regulatory bodies.
  • Strategic thinking with operational execution capability.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder-management skills.

Qualifications & Experience

  • CA / CPA / CMA / MBA (Finance).
  • 12–20 years of finance experience, including at least 5+ years in a senior leadership role.
  • Prior experience in education (schools, universities, training institutes, edtech, or similar service-based sectors) strongly preferred.
  • Experience with ERP systems, automation tools, and MIS reporting.
