Job Description for QC Chemist

Basic Information of Role

Job Title: QC Chemist

Based at: Pimpri plant

Department: Quality Control

Reports to: Manager QC

Direct Reports:

Section One: Job Purpose:

Responsible for inspection & quality testing of Raw materials, Finished Products, Intermediates, packaging, effluent & application testing.

Section Two : Job Responsibilities and Accountabilities

RM-

· Sampling of RM under the guidance.

· To ensure that material testing, inspection & quality testing of raw materials are done in a time & in accurate manner.

To ensure proper documentation.

Inspection-

· To enter test results in computer system.

· To make test report records & proper filing.

· To confirm the receipt of COA (Certificate of analysis)

· To return the tested materials used at laboratory to store /mfg for reuse / blending.

Intermediates -

· To confirm the batch number of sample.

· To do analysis of product as per the specification

· To enter the results in computer system.

· To communicate the results with MFG department

In process -

· To check the sample batch number & test as per the specification

· To communicate the results with MFG department

· To fill the test reports and send it to MFG department.

Packaging of material -

· To do physical verification & enter the results in computer system

Finished Goods -

· To check the batch number, hazard class label for control sample.

· To do analysis of sample as per the specification & maintain the record.

· To prepare proper documentation of QC test records.

· To send the test records of FG to MFG department in case of deviation.

· Application testing with regards to wire enamel application on enamelling Plant.

· Ready availability of all types of IMS related data for all types of auditors.

Effluent analysis

· Verify the receipt of samples as per procedure.

· Daily analysis of Effluent samples & communicate abnormalities.

· Communicate test results for routine results.

Rejection/rework

· Timely communication about, out of specification products with HOD QC

Third party inspection

· To test the products in presence of third party (customers / ext. auditors etc.) as per requirement.

Lab equipments.

· Responsible for maintenance & calibration of equipments.

· To report abnormalities & support troubleshooting for instrument.

New product development

· To monitor quality performance /stability as & when required

· To support the MMD, MTD, MFG for analysis of new vendor development samples

Preservation of Control sample

· Proper placement of samples in control sample storeroom (RT & cold room)

· To ensure the disposal of shelf life over samples on time.

· To ensure the disposal instruction advice form for waste generated & send it to ESP department

· To maintain the records of disposal form.

Shelf-life Expiry material

To verify the batch number & non confirming (NC)form from stores

· To do analysis of sample as per the specification.

· To fill the NC part 2 form with analysis details & send it to relevant department

· To ensure chemical wastage generated from the laboratory are effectively identified, handled, stored & disposed accordingly

· Processing of wire enamels (operation of enamelling application plant) & testing of enamelled wire.

· To do analysis of control sample in case of customer complaints.

Audit

· Assist in Internal & external audits & during customer visit.

· Implementation of 5S & sustain ISO, EMS & OHSAS ((maintenance + documentation)

· To maintain the housekeeping of laboratory

· To implement proper safety control measures required for regular activities.

Section Three : Major Challenges

· To adhere quality standards & parameters in entire process.

· New test method development, upgradation in old testing procedures.

· In case of emergency should work extra hours or work in shift as per production requirement.

Section Four : Key accountabilities/ Performance Matrices

· To do inspection of incoming & outgoing products in accurate & timely manner.

· To maintain the calibration of equipments.

· To achieve all targets in time.

· Help to reduce the customer complaints.

· To do all SAP related entries of tested products on time.

Calibrating authorities, equipment suppliers, raw material/packaging suppliers, auditors etc.

Required Qualification (Min):

B.Sc. (chemistry), M.Sc.(Organic/ Analytical)

Additional Qualification: Knowledge of SAP

Management courses- DBM

No. of years of experience: Fiveyears of experience in similar function.

Age : up to 28 years
