The team combines evidence-based clinical practice, modern microsurgical techniques and patient-first service models to improve visual outcomes for diverse populations.This on-site Consultant Ophthalmologist role specializes in cataract surgery and anterior-segment care and is offered by Medico Hub to expand its surgical team in India.
Role & Responsibilities
- Perform high-volume cataract procedures (phacoemulsification and SICS) with consistent, reproducible outcomes and independent IOL implantation.
- Manage pre-operative assessment, counselling, informed consent, and optimise patients for safe day-care and inpatient cataract surgery.
- Diagnose and treat common anterior-segment conditions; triage and appropriately refer complex posterior-segment cases.
- Deliver high standards of post-operative care, promptly recognise and manage complications, and coordinate follow-up pathways.
- Maintain accurate clinical records in ophthalmic EMR, participate in morbidity audits, outcomes tracking and continuous quality improvement.
- Collaborate with nursing, optometry and administrative teams; contribute to patient education and community outreach when required.
Skills & Qualifications
Must-Have
- MBBS with MS/DO/DNB in Ophthalmology or equivalent recognized qualification and valid medical registration in India.
- Proven hands-on experience as a cataract surgeon with independent phacoemulsification and IOL implantation (minimum 200+ supervised/independent cases preferred).
- Strong slit-lamp and anterior-segment clinical skills; competent in peri-operative patient management and complication handling.
- Good communication skills for patient counselling and multidisciplinary teamwork; reliable clinical documentation practices.
Preferred
- Fellowship in Cataract/Anterior Segment or equivalent sub-specialty training.
- Experience with refractive lens exchange, toric/ multifocal IOLs, and familiarity with biometry devices (IOLMaster/ Lenstar) and EMR systems.
