Job Description

Position Overview

The Business Development Manager – South Region will be responsible for driving solar business growth (utility-scale, rooftop, open access, C&I, and hybrid solutions) across Southern India. The role involves identifying opportunities, building client relationships, managing regional sales, and ensuring successful project acquisitions in alignment with the company’s business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Business Development & Sales

  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities in the South region for solar EPC, IPP, rooftop, and open access projects.
  • Develop and implement regional business development strategies aligned with corporate goals.
  • Achieve sales targets for revenue, pipeline development, and order booking.
  • Prepare and deliver proposals, presentations, and commercial offers to clients.

Client & Stakeholder Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with industrial, commercial, and institutional clients.
  • Engage with government agencies, utilities, consultants, EPC partners, and developers in the region.
  • Represent the company at regional industry events, exhibitions, and conferences.

Market Intelligence & Strategy

  • Track regional solar policy, regulatory changes, DISCOM guidelines, and subsidy schemes.
  • Analyze competitors’ presence, pricing strategies, and market positioning.
  • Provide regular inputs to management for business planning and strategy.

Coordination & Collaboration

  • Work closely with central BD, engineering, finance, and tendering teams for proposal development.
  • Coordinate with O&M and project execution teams to ensure client satisfaction and repeat business.
  • Support management in negotiations and closure of key contracts.

Key Skills & Competencies

  • Strong understanding of solar PV technology, EPC/IPPs, open access models, and PPA structures.
  • Proven ability in B2B/B2G sales, customer acquisition, and relationship management.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with ability to work independently and deliver results.
  • Knowledge of regulatory frameworks, state solar policies, and DISCOM processes in South India.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Education

    : B.E./B.Tech in Electrical/Mechanical/Energy Engineering; MBA (Marketing/Strategy) preferred.
  • Experience

    : 6–10 years in business development/sales in solar or renewable energy sector, with strong regional exposure.
  • Experience in C&I rooftop/open access projects will be an advantage.

  • Based in

    Gurugram, Haryana

    with frequent regional travel.
