We are looking for a dynamic and detail-oriented
Biomedical Engineer
to join our healthcare technology team. The ideal candidate will bring hands-on experience in
equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, technical support
, and a passion for improving healthcare delivery through technology. This role is critical in ensuring the smooth functioning of medical devices and systems across our facility.As a Biomedical Engineer, you will be responsible for the inspection, maintenance, calibration, repair, and installation of various medical equipment and systems. You will also support clinical teams by providing technical guidance, assist with equipment procurement decisions, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards through proper documentation and reporting.
Key Responsibilities
Equipment Maintenance and Technical Support
- Conduct regular preventive maintenance of medical equipment as per the manufacturer's guidelines and internal schedules.
- Perform routine checks and diagnostics to ensure all biomedical devices are functioning optimally.
- Provide prompt technical support to resolve equipment issues, minimizing downtime and ensuring continuous clinical operations.
Troubleshooting and Repairs
- Identify and diagnose technical problems with medical devices and systems including imaging, diagnostic, and life-support equipment.
- Repair faulty equipment or escalate to vendors/manufacturers when necessary, ensuring timely resolution.
- Document all troubleshooting and repair activities for compliance and reporting.
Equipment Evaluation and Procurement
- Participate in technical evaluation of medical equipment during procurement processes.
- Assess the suitability of new devices based on performance, cost, safety, and compatibility.
- Collaborate with procurement teams to ensure the acquisition of high-quality, cost-effective biomedical devices.
Documentation and Reporting
- Maintain accurate logs of maintenance, calibration, repair, and inspection activities.
- Prepare and submit compliance reports for audits and accreditation requirements.
- Ensure all service activities are documented in accordance with hospital policies and regulatory standards.
Collaboration and Communication
- Liaise with clinical departments to understand technical requirements and equipment-related concerns.
- Educate healthcare staff on proper use, safety procedures, and routine checks of biomedical equipment.
- Coordinate with vendors and service engineers for third-party repairs and warranty services.
Required Skills And Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering, Clinical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a healthcare or hospital setting handling biomedical equipment.
- Strong knowledge of medical devices, diagnostic systems, and hospital safety standards.
- Proficiency in reading technical manuals, interpreting diagrams, and following service procedures.
- Hands-on experience with preventive maintenance protocols and diagnostic tools.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with regulatory standards like NABH, ISO, or other quality compliance frameworks.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Preferred Attributes
- Certification or training in specific OEM devices or systems (preferred but not mandatory).
- Familiarity with inventory management systems or Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
- Willingness to work in a dynamic, fast-paced hospital environment with occasional extended hours or on-call support.
