Job Overview: We are looking for a detail-oriented and diligent Civil Billing Engineer with 1-2 years of experience, specifically in railway construction billing, to join our team. The role involves managing and coordinating billing activities related to civil works for railway projects. You will be responsible for ensuring accurate measurement, costing, and invoicing based on work completed on railway sites, following the contract terms and specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
Railway Work Measurement: Accurately measure and quantify civil works related to railway infrastructure, such as track laying, station construction, bridges, embankments, drainage, and other railway-related works.
Prepare Bills: Prepare detailed and accurate interim and final bills based on the work completed at the railway project site. Ensure the quantities are in line with the contract specifications and drawings.
Cost Estimation: Collaborate with the project team to estimate the cost of materials, labor, and machinery required for railway civil works. Assist in the preparation of cost estimates for additional works or variations.
Document Control: Maintain organized records of contracts, work orders, site progress reports, drawings, and any other documentation needed for billing purposes. Ensure proper tracking of work completed and materials used.
Site Visits: Regularly visit railway construction sites to verify the progress of work, ensuring it aligns with the billing. Cross-check actual work completed with the quantities mentioned in the drawings and scope of work.
Reconciliation: Reconcile discrepancies between the actual work done and the recorded quantities. Ensure any discrepancies are addressed and resolved with the project team.
Client and Contractor Communication: Liaise with clients, contractors, and vendors to ensure that all billing-related issues are promptly addressed and that bills are approved in a timely manner.
Variation Orders: Assist in the preparation and documentation of variation orders, ensuring that changes in scope are accurately reflected in the billing process.
Contract Compliance: Ensure all billing is in accordance with the contract terms, specifications, and legal requirements. Ensure adherence to the relevant railway standards and regulations.
Reporting: Prepare regular billing and cost reports for senior management. Provide updates on pending invoices, approved bills, and outstanding payments.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
1-2 years of experience in billing for civil works on railway projects or similar infrastructure projects.
Strong understanding of civil engineering and railway construction processes (track work, bridges, embankments, stations, etc.).
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and construction management software. Familiarity with AutoCAD or similar tools is a plus.
Knowledge of railway-specific billing processes, terms, and conditions.
Ability to interpret and work with railway construction drawings and specifications.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills to manage multiple billing tasks effectively.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills for dealing with contractors, clients, and other stakeholders.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Skills:
Experience with railway construction projects (track works, tunnels, bridges, stations, etc.).
Knowledge of relevant railway standards and guidelines (Indian Railways, IRSE standards, or equivalent).
