Role & Responsibilities

• Design, implement and maintain robust Python/Django backend services and RESTful APIs that power customer-facing workflows and internal tools.
• Build and optimize data models and SQL queries (Postgres) to ensure correctness, reliability and high-throughput for financial workloads.
• Implement background processing (Celery/Redis or equivalent) and integrations with third‑party financial/tax APIs while ensuring data integrity and secure handling of PII.
• Write automated unit and integration tests, participate in CI/CD pipelines, and maintain production observability (logs, metrics, alerts).
• Troubleshoot performance and reliability issues—profile code, optimize bottlenecks, and implement caching or queuing strategies where needed.
• Collaborate with product, frontend, QA and DevOps teams; take ownership of feature delivery, documentation, and mentor junior engineers.
  

Skills & Qualifications

• 3-5 years of backend development experience with strong Python and Django expertise.
• Proven experience designing and shipping RESTful APIs and relational data models (Postgres preferred).
• Hands-on experience with asynchronous processing (Celery, Redis, or equivalents), background jobs and queue management.
• Solid testing discipline (unit/integration tests), familiarity with CI/CD workflows, and Git-centred development.
• Experience with Docker and deploying services to cloud platforms (AWS/GCP) and knowledge of security best practices for handling financial/PII data.
  

Preferred

• Start-up experience, exposure to microservices or event-driven architectures, and Kubernetes familiarity.
• Domain knowledge in accounting, tax compliance or financial systems and experience integrating third-party payment or tax APIs.
• Demonstrated leadership—mentoring peers, owning end-to-end features, and improving engineering practices.
