Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the full-cycle payroll process across multiple pay groups or states, including employee onboarding, earnings, deductions, taxes, and terminations.
  • Review and approve payroll previews, audit reports, and post-payroll reconciliations for accuracy and compliance.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local payroll and tax regulations, including FLSA, FMLA, and other labor laws.
  • Maintain and update payroll policies, procedures, and guidelines in accordance with company and regulatory requirements.
  • Administer employee benefits such as health plans, 401(k), life insurance, disability, and other related programs.
  • Collaborate with benefits vendors and brokers for plan renewals, open enrollment, and issue resolution.
  • Manage employee inquiries related to payroll and benefits in a timely and professional manner.
  • Coordinate annual reporting activities, including W-2s, 1095-C forms, benefit renewals, and audit requests.
  • Partner with HR and Accounting to reconcile payroll accounts, ensure accurate general ledger postings, and assist with financial audits.
  • Lead process improvements using technology and automation to enhance payroll and benefit administration efficiency.
  • Stay current with payroll best practices, system upgrades, and legislative changes impacting payroll and benefits.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of U.S. payroll experience
  • Strong knowledge of federal and multi-state payroll tax regulations and labor laws.
  • Experience with payroll systems such as ADP Run, ADP Workforce Now, Paycom, Paylocity or Paychex Flex.
  • Hands-on experience managing employee benefits and vendor relationships.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with accounting systems such as QuickBooks or similar.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • High level of integrity in handling confidential and sensitive information.
