Overview
The Diamond & Jewelry Services Auditor is a contract position, working independently but in close communication with a remote team. The auditor travels to client offices, factories, or manufacturing facilities to assess practices and systems relative to the SCS-007-1 and Responsible Jewelry Council certification standards. Assessments involve document review, employee and contractor interviews, and on-site evaluation of activities. Detailed assessment reports must be written and submitted on time. SCS provides ongoing training.

Scope Of Work
Audit Coordination
- Schedule and confirm audit date with client
- Prepare and send client audit plan according to protocols
- Book travel, hotel, and transportation according to company policy, and submit expense reports
Audit Services
- Adhere to all quality and code of conduct standards
- Prepare clients for the audit process by sending required necessary audit paperwork according to established timelines
- Conduct audits using applicable checklists, forms, and tools
- Maintain positive client relationships and respond to all client inquiries and concerns
- Submit complete and accurate audit reports within established timelines
- Ensure thorough client records are maintained
Program Quality and Compliance
- Attend training(s) to maintain qualifications to conduct audits; maintain training records
- Maintain up to date knowledge of nation laws and regulations, as well as applicable standards
Minimum Qualifications
Education & Experience
- University degree or equivalent in a relevant field
- Minimum of two years’ professional experience in mining, refining, jewelry manufacturing, supply chain management, or sustainability
- Contextual understanding of industry risks, impacts, and sustainability practices
- Prior auditing experience (internal, external, or third-party) strongly preferred

- Kimberley Process / World Diamond Council System of Warranties
- Social auditing and compliance standards
- Jewelry and diamond manufacturing processes
- Product disclosure, transportation of materials, and retail operations
- Security and human rights in supply chains
- Awareness of artisanal and small-scale mining (ASM)
Training & Certifications
- RJC Lead Auditor status
- ISO management systems training (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 19011)
- Familiarity with ILO Conventions
- Knowledge of UN Guiding Principles on Business & Human Rights
- Understanding of OECD Due Diligence Guidance for Responsible Supply Chains of Minerals
- Familiarity with “Know Your Customer” compliance for anti-money laundering/terrorism financing
