The Associate News Editor is responsible for assisting in the writing and publication of news content across various AL Circle platforms, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and quality of news coverage while working closely with the News Editor and other editorial staffs. This role involves writing, editing, and fact-checking from various online and offline sources and other team members to meet deadlines and uphold journalistic standards.

The role will report to the Senior Manager

Roles and responsibilities

● Writing and editing: Writing and editing of news articles for accuracy, clarity, grammar and style

adherence. Crafting engaging headlines and summaries that accurately represent the content.

● Fact-checking: Verifying information and sources to maintain the credibility of news content.

● Publication management: Publishing news content on AL Circle and providing copy for social media

promotion.

● Breaking news response: Assisting in the rapid coverage of breaking news events, including updating and distributing news alerts.

● Audience engagement: Monitoring audience feedback and analytics to identify areas for improvement and reader interest.

Eligibility Skills

Must-haves

● Bachelor's Degree, Post-Graduate Diploma in Journalism & Mass Communication/ English literature/Economics/Sociology

● Up to 2 years of experience in journalism and communications, preferably in the field of finance or business news writing

● Excellent strength in English vocabulary, with exceptional command over writing and communication

● Knowledge of SEO best practices for online content optimisation

● Knowledge of AP style and other journalistic standards

● Proneness to in-depth research and data verification

Nice to-haves:

● Master's Degree in Journalism & Mass Communication/ English literature/Economics/Sociology

● Knowledge of the commodity market would be an advantage

● Familiarity with content management systems (CMS) and digital publishing platforms

● Previous experience in a newsroom environment.
