Job Description


Assistant Manager Payroll & Statutory Compliance

Location:

Role Purpose

end-to-end payroll operations, contractual labour management, wage administration, attendance & leave governance, and statutory HR compliance

Key Responsibilities

Payroll & Wage Administration

  • Manage

    end-to-end payroll processing

    for permanent and contractual employees, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and confidentiality.
  • Coordinate monthly payroll inputs including attendance, overtime, incentives, deductions, arrears, leave encashment, and statutory recoveries.
  • Ensure compliance with

    minimum wages, overtime rules, shift allowances, and wage settlements

    applicable to the manufacturing unit.
  • Reconcile payroll data with finance and resolve discrepancies prior to salary disbursement.

Contractual Labour Management

  • Manage end-to-end

    contract labour lifecycle

    including onboarding, documentation, deployment, renewals, and exits.
  • Coordinate with manpower contractors for headcount planning, attendance validation, wage processing, and statutory compliance.
  • Ensure contractor compliance with labour laws including

    CLRA, Minimum Wages Act, Payment of Wages Act, and Shops & Establishment / Factory Act

    .
  • Conduct regular audits of contractor records and escalate non-compliance.

Attendance & Leave Management

  • Oversee

    attendance systems

    (biometric / manual) for shop-floor and staff employees.
  • Validate attendance, overtime, weekly offs, and shift rosters for payroll processing.
  • Manage leave administration including earned leave, casual leave, sick leave, compensatory offs, and leave encashment.
  • Resolve attendance and leave-related grievances raised by employees and supervisors.

Statutory Compliance & Labour Laws

  • Ensure end-to-end compliance with

    PF, ESIC, Professional Tax, Labour Welfare Fund, Bonus, Gratuity, and Factory Act

    requirements.
  • Coordinate statutory filings, challans, returns, inspections, and audits in collaboration with consultants and contractors.
  • Maintain statutory registers, records, and documentation as per legal requirements.
  • Support internal and external audits, labour inspections, and compliance reviews.

Shop Floor HR & Employee Relations

  • Maintain

    strong shop-floor presence

    to address daily payroll, attendance, wage, and compliance-related issues of blue-collar employees.
  • Act as first point of contact for shop-floor supervisors and workers for HR queries.
  • Resolve employee grievances related to wages, overtime, attendance, shifts, and statutory deductions.
  • Support harmonious employee relations by ensuring transparent communication and timely issue resolution.

MIS, Reporting & Process Improvement

  • Prepare and publish

    payroll, attendance, and compliance MIS

    for management review.
  • Track headcount, manpower cost, overtime trends, and statutory compliance status.
  • Drive continuous improvement in payroll accuracy, turnaround time, and compliance processes.
  • Support digitization and automation initiatives for payroll and attendance systems.
