The Chief Engineer will be responsible for overseeing end-to-end engineering operations for hotel properties, ensuring optimal functionality of all MEP systems, safety compliance, preventive maintenance, and smooth day-to-day technical operations. This role plays a critical part in pre-opening projects as well as ongoing asset management.
● Oversee MEP installations, testing, commissioning, and snag rectification.
● Coordinate with contractors, project teams, and vendors to ensure timely delivery of all engineering works.
● Prepare engineering SOPs, checklists, and preventive maintenance schedules.
● Assess and approve all engineering-related material, equipment, and AMC requirements.
● Conduct pre-opening safety audits (fire, electrical, HVAC, STP/WTP, etc.) Engineering Operations.
● Manage daily hotel engineering operations including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
● Ensure uninterrupted services (power, water, gas, safety systems) across the property.
● Lead preventive and corrective maintenance activities for all equipment.
● Monitor and optimize HLP (Heat, Light & Power) consumption across the property.
● Ensure 100% compliance with safety, legal, and statutory requirements.
● Lead, train, and mentor the engineering team.
● Ensure timely rostering, work allocation, and skill development.
● Establish a culture of safety, accountability, and high standards. Vendor & AMC Management
● Manage all engineering vendors and service contracts.
● Prepare and monitor AMC schedules, renewals, and performance.
● Ensure cost-effective engineering operations without compromising quality. Emergency & Safety Management
● Take full responsibility for the hotel’s emergency preparedness (fire systems, alarms, panels, hydrants).
● Lead emergency drills and safety training.
● Handle technical breakdowns with quick decision-making and minimal downtime.
● BE/BTech in Electrical Engineering (Mandatory)
● Strong technical knowledge of: ○ HVAC Systems ○ Fire Safety Systems ○ Electrical Panels & Load Distribution ○ STP/WTP Operations ○ Preventive Maintenance Systems
● Ability to handle 100+ rooms or multiple sites preferred.
● Strong budget planning, cost control, and vendor management skills.
● 8-10 years of hospitality engineering experience.
● Prior experience as Assistant Chief Engineer or Chief Engineer in 4/5-star hotel chains such as Lemon Tree, Marriott, Hilton, Radisson, etc.
● Experience with Pre-opening properties is highly preferred.
● Strong ownership and accountability.
● Problem-solving mindset with high attention to detail.
● Ability to work under pressure and manage deadlines.
● Leadership qualities with excellent coordination and communication skills.
