About the Organization:

Swaniti Initiative is a fourteen-year-old social enterprise that is working at the intersection of climate, governance and last mile delivery. We believe that while the willingness and resources exist, there are fundamental gaps in the execution within communities that is the biggest crisis in the climate movement. Swaniti works with subnational governments to conduct microplanning exercises in consultation with communities and key stakeholders, provides technical assistance to subnational governments toward implementation and supports in monitoring and delivery of programs. A significant focus of our work within climate and governance is on preparing the private sector and communities for energy transition.

About the Role:

TheAnalyst/Associate for Policy Engagements will support the Policy Team withstrategic outreach to Honble Members of Parliament (MPs), provideevidence-based research, sectoral insights, and legislative support usingdata-driven methodologies. The role will focus on aiding MPs through research,policy briefs, stakeholder convenings, and facilitating knowledge exchange oncritical policy issues including climate change and allied fields.

Job Responsibilities:

1. Research & Legislative Support:

Conduct evidence-based research on policy issues, governmentschemes, and sectoral challenges for Honble MPs, with particular focus onenvironment, social protection and governance. Utilize primary and secondarydata sources, field research, and stakeholder consultations where appropriate.

Develop high-quality expert briefings, policy insights andlegislative support documents based on MPs specific requests, ensuring allmaterials are factual within tight deadlines.

Provide background research and analytical support forparliamentary interventions, bills, standing committee meetings, andparliamentary debates, including identifying key policy gaps and opportunities.

Identify critical policy gaps through data analysis and researchand propose evidence-based interventions at constituency and national levels,aligning with Swanitis constituency development approach and flagshipprograms.

2. Stakeholder Engagement:

Constantoutreach to Parliamentarians in India and abroad

Engagewith diverse stakeholders including government bodies, think tanks, civilsociety organizations, corporate CSR wings, and grassroots organizations togather insights, facilitate knowledge exchange, and support evidence-basedpolicy making. This includes conducting stakeholder consultations and primaryoutreach and research.

Supportorganization of policy workshops, stakeholder consultations, and knowledgeexchange events on critical policy issues, ensuring high-quality facilitationand documentation of outcomes.

3. Documentation & Reporting:

Preparehigh-quality reports, policy briefs, and knowledge products on relevant policyissues, ensuring all materials are well-researched, factually accurate, andpresented in accessible formats for diverse audiences.

Documentpolicy recommendations, administrative reports, impact assessments, and successstories for wider dissemination, contributing to organizational learning andknowledge management.

Complywith all internal reporting requirements, maintaining high standards of documentationand contributing to team knowledge sharing and organizational systems.

Activelycontribute to communication initiatives including content development, socialmedia engagement, and public outreach to amplify policy insights andorganizational impact.

Requirements
Qualifications Required:

Education: Postgraduate degree in Economics, Public Policy, Political Science, Law, Development Studies or any related field

Experience: Experience: 0-1 years of experience in policy research, public policy, legislative support, or government consulting (relevant internships with think tanks, government bodies, NGOs, or policy organizations considered).

Skills:

Strong research and analytical skills, including ability to conduct primary research, data analysis, and synthesize complex information from multiple sources and disseminate utilizing standard policy advocacy tools and strategies.

Ability to translate complex policy issues into clear, actionable insights for Honble MPs and stakeholders

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with ability to engage professionally with diverse stakeholders including government officials, MPs, civil society leaders, and grassroots organizations.

Understanding of the structure and functioning of Union and State governments

Strong understanding of thestructure and functioning of Union and State governments, includingadministrative, parliamentary hierarchies and inter-governmental coordinationmechanisms.
