Pocket FM is reshaping the future of audio entertainment globally. As India’s leading audio OTT platform, we host the largest library of audio dramas, long-form fiction, and immersive storytelling across genres and languages. We’re now building an internet-scale ecosystem designed for global audiences - where stories travel, transform, and find new life through world-class creative adaptation.
About the Adaptation Charter
The Adaptation Charter transforms fiction from diverse global source cultures into polished, culturally resonant, audio-first narratives for American listeners. Our work includes leveraging and developing AI-assisted solutions to blend story craft, narrative structure, and cultural intelligence to adapt long-form fiction shows at scale. In this role, you’ll collaborate with AI Research teams as well as American content commissioning, programming, and editorial teams to analyse fiction narrative and improve writing quality.
About the Role:
We’re looking for a fiction writer who loves the technicalities of storytelling and screenwriting as much as the stories themselves—someone who can examine scripts, dissect AI-generated scripts, and turn them into polished, culturally tuned adaptations for American audiences. This is a research-heavy, analytical, and highly iterative role built around pattern recognition, narrative diagnostics, and continuous feedback. An official background in fiction writing or screenwriting is essential, along with a strong grasp of the different strengths and weaknesses of LLMs when it comes to fiction writing.
If you’re a storyteller fascinated by AI, a tech enthusiast who devours fiction, or a narrative designer curious about the evolution of fiction stories, you’ll thrive in this role.
What you'll do:
1. Feedback, Research & Script Evaluation
- Conduct in-depth, actionable feedback research on both AI-written and human-written shows, analyzing cultural context, narrative choices, and structural nuances to guide AI-driven adaptations.
- Review and evaluate AI-generated outputs for language, tone, flow, cultural accuracy, character development, genre alignment, and audio-friendliness.
- Assess source material for narrative structure, cultural relevance, character relatability, pacing, and overall story believability.
- Provide structured, iterative creative-writing feedback to improve scripts and ensure alignment with U.S. audience expectations.
2. Pattern Diagnosis & Craft-Level Analysis
- Identify recurring failure patterns in adaptation outputs and propose solutions at both the craft and tooling/model levels.
- Break down writing using a technical craft lens (scene construction, episodic design, arc structure, etc.) to pinpoint where the tool is faltering and why.
- Track and bucket issues accurately across shows.
3. Prompting, Testing & Workflow Improvement
- Design, test, and iterate on prompts and prompting strategies to drive creative improvements and reduce errors.
- Conduct iterative experimentation across shows to understand how prompts influence outputs and refine them accordingly.
- Improve existing workflows by tracking failure points and integrating learnings back into systems.
4. Tooling & System Development
- Develop, test, and refine AI tools (including pacing systems, co-referencing tools, error-detection tools, audio-friendly formatting tools, and adaptation guides) to improve story quality and workflow efficiency.
- Document best practices, insights, and recurring issues to guide future tool improvements.
5. Collaboration & Training
- Collaborate with engineering, production, and other internal teams to integrate tools effectively and refine adaptation systems based on real-world use.
- Train internal teams on how to use AI tools efficiently, interpret outputs, and integrate workflows into their pipelines.
- Build and maintain SOPs and other documentation to support scalable, high-quality adaptation workflows.
Must-Haves:
Film/screenwriting background is a must-have
— especially for pacing, scene logic, and dialogue rhythm.Understanding of LLM behavior
— familiarity with how models interpret prompts, lose context, flatten voices, or mishandle nuance.Understanding of
American pop culture
, idioms, humor, contemporary references, and storytelling norms.Strong creative writing judgment
— understanding of tone, voice, character intention, and narrative flow.Exceptional language refinement skills
— ability to elevate dialogue, deepen emotional beats, and tighten prose.Adaptation literacy
— the ability to convert content for a different culture without distorting the story's purpose.Audio sensibility
— understanding how narrative reads when performed, not just when read.Creative and analytical balance
— able to derive patterns, articulate issues clearly, and propose systemic fixes.
What we need:
- Educational background in screenwriting, novel writing, creative writing, film, and linguistics that provides a strong
technical grasp of storytelling, language, and cultural nuance.
- Experience rewriting or adapting fiction, including novels, scripts, web fiction, audio scripts, or similar formats.
- Comfortable working in iterative AI-assisted environments, including prompt development, tool usage, output evaluation, and demonstrating literacy with large language models (LLMs).
What we are looking for:
- Passionate about stories, cultural nuances, and the ways language shapes narrative, with a love for both micro-level craft and macro-level story structure, character arcs, and pacing.
- Detail-oriented and methodical, able to spot inconsistencies in content, context, or tone, and document patterns, insights, and decisions clearly.
- Naturally curious, research-minded, and analytical, thriving on problem-solving through iterative experimentation and emerging creative technologies.
- Flexible, quick learner, and able to adapt to evolving tools, processes, and creative challenges.
- Collaborative communicator, open to feedback, and skilled at sharing insights clearly across creative, technical, and production teams.
- Energized by fast-paced, dynamic environments with evolving tools, workflows, and technologies, and able to adapt quickly to change.
- Excited by global fiction and how stories shift across cultures, bringing both cultural sensitivity and creative intuition to every adaptation.
- Avid reader, as this is a reading and research-heavy job.
Why you’ll love working with us:
- Be part of a high-performing finance team that values precision, ownership, and collaboration.
- Gain exposure to cross-functional operations and global financial reporting.
- Work in a fast-paced, high-growth company redefining entertainment globally.
- Opportunity to drive automation, process optimization, and impactful decision-making through data.
- Continuous learning, leadership development, and growth opportunities in a supportive environment.
