Key Responsibilities

  • Perform

    aerodynamic analysis and optimization

    of fixed-wing, VTOL, and hybrid UAV configurations.
  • Suggest and implement

    design improvements

    based on CFD findings to optimize flight efficiency, lift-to-drag ratio, and stability.
  • Collaborate closely with

    propulsion, avionics, flight control, and structural teams

    to ensure seamless system-level integration.
  • Conduct

    aerodynamic hand calculations, trade-off analyses, and performance estimations

    to support CFD results and guide preliminary design decisions.
  • Provide

    predictive insights into UAV flight behavior

    using theoretical methods and simulation data.
  • Participate in

    wind tunnel testing, prototype validation, and flight test campaigns

    to correlate and refine CFD models.
  • Use

    statistical tools and analysis software

    such as MATLAB and Minitab to process CFD and experimental datasets.
  • Document

    simulation procedures, assumptions, model limitations, and validation methods

    in detailed technical reports and presentations.
  • Evaluate

    propeller sizing and aerodynamic characteristics

    using first-principles and computational tools for specific mission requirements.
  • Conduct

    performance matching studies

    between propeller designs and electric motors for optimal efficiency.
  • Utilize

    low-fidelity tools

    such as QMIL, QPROP, and XROTOR for preliminary aerodynamic analysis.
  • Perform

    high-fidelity CFD simulations

    using tools like OpenFOAM, PowerFLOW, XFlow, HyperWorks, ModeFrontier, STAR-CCM+, ANSYS Fluent/CFX, and Flow-3D.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • B.Tech/M.Tech

    in Aerospace or Aeronautical Engineering.
  • Minimum

    3+ years

    of hands-on experience in

    aircraft or UAV design and development

    .
  • Strong knowledge of

    aerodynamic principles, stability & control, propulsion-airframe interactions

    , and

    flight dynamics

    .
  • Proven experience in designing

    fixed-wing and VTOL UAVs

    from concept to prototype stage.
  • Expertise in

    conceptualization, optimization, and performance analysis

    of airframes and propulsion systems.
  • Strong fundamentals in

    aerodynamics, propulsion design, and aerospace testing standards

    .
  • Proficiency in

    CAD tools

    such as SolidWorks, CATIA, Creo, or Siemens NX.
  • Familiarity with

    structural optimization tools

    (optional but preferred).
