About Jai Hind Trust

Jai Hind Trust is a mission-led organization telling stories of real grassroots heroes, from tribal educators to environmental warriors, through powerful digital media, on-ground campaigns, and impact-led initiatives. We believe storytelling isn’t soft; it’s strategy. And we back that belief with discipline, creativity, and heart.

We’re a Great Place to Work®-certified organization, and our home base is nestled in the lush valley of Dehradun.

The Role: Accounts Officer

We’re looking for a detail-obsessed, ethically grounded, and self-driven Accounts Officer to take charge of our core financial systems. This is more than number-crunching, it’s about ensuring financial integrity and compliance in service of a larger social mission.

You’ll be handling daily accounts, statutory compliances (TDS, GST, FCRA, CSR), donor reporting, audit coordination, and all the good stuff that keeps a values-driven organization financially healthy and transparent.

Your Key Responsibilities

1) Accounting & Bookkeeping

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date books of accounts
  • Record day-to-day transactions including payments, receipts, and journal entries
  • Manage cash books, bank reconciliations, ledgers, and vouchers

2) Taxation & Compliance

  • Prepare and file TDS, GST, and other statutory returns timely
  • Ensure compliance with FCRA, 12A, 80G, and CSR reporting
  • Assist with statutory, internal, and donor audits
  • Coordinate with CA and legal advisors as needed

3) Reporting & Budgeting

  • Track project-wise budgets, expenses, and grants
  • Generate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
  • Support the team with utilization reports and forecasting

4) Operations & Coordination

  • Ensure timely vendor and salary payments
  • Assist internal teams with reimbursements and procurement-related accounting
  • Maintain proper documentation for all financial and compliance activities

What You Need to Bring

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Commerce/Finance/Accounting
  • 3–5 years of work experience (NGO or social sector experience is a big plus)
  • Proficiency in Tally, Zoho Books, or QuickBooks
  • Deep knowledge of Indian taxation laws (TDS, GST, Income Tax)
  • Familiarity with FCRA, CSR reporting, and donor finance systems
  • Strong Excel and documentation skills
  • High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy and timelines

What You’ll Get

  • A chance to work in the green valley of Dehradun
  • Great coffee and even better team vibes
  • Learning opportunities across communication, strategy, and social impact
  • A workplace with heart, structure, and national impact
  • Work that matters- every single day
