Job Description

General Accountant Job Responsibilities (for a Garments Showroom)Financial Record Keeping Maintain day-to-day financial transactions. Record all purchases, sales, receipts, and payments. Prepare and manage ledgers and journals. Billing and Invoicing Generate sales invoices for garments sold. Issue GST-compliant bills to retail or wholesale customers. Handle credit notes, debit notes, and returns. Maintain billing software or POS system. Accounts Receivable and Payable Monitor incoming payments from customers. Follow up on outstanding customer dues. Handle vendor payments for stock and other expenses. Inventory Coordination Coordinate with store manager for stock movement. Cross-check billed items with stock inventory. Ensure accurate stock valuation for accounting. Taxation and Compliance Calculate and file GST returns (monthly/quarterly). Maintain records for tax audits. Coordinate with external auditors and tax consultants. Bank Reconciliation Match bank statements with company records. Resolve discrepancies in bank and cash books. Payroll Management (if applicable) Process salaries for showroom staff. Deduct TDS, PF, or other statutory contributions. Reporting Prepare daily/weekly/monthly sales and expense reports. Generate profit and loss statements. Assist management in budgeting and forecasting.
