Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop instrumentation and control systems for air compressor packages (screw, reciprocating, or centrifugal types).
  • Prepare P&IDs, instrument loop diagrams, hook-up drawings, wiring schematics, cable routing, Junction box layout and control panel layouts.
  • Select and specify field instruments such as pressure, temperature, flow, and vibration sensors, transducers, JB and control elements.
  • Create and maintain Instrument data sheets, I/O lists, manuals and cable schedules in accordance with project requirements.
  • Integrate instrumentation with PLC/SCADA/DCS systems and assist with logic development.
  • Coordinate with Mechanical, Piping, Electrical, Process teams, Vendor and with Client to ensure instrumentation interfaces correctly with other systems.
  • Ensure compliance with international standards (e.g., API, ASME, ISA, IEC, ATEX, NEMA) and customer specifications.
  • Support FAT, SAT, commissioning, and troubleshooting activities, both in-house and at client sites.
  • Coordinate with vendors for instrument selection, specification review, and technical clarifications.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and revision control throughout the project lifecycle.

Skills And Experience Required

  • Bachelors in Instrumentation Engineering, Electrical engineering or equivalent.
  • Understanding of Air compressor control system and its operation.
  • Strong knowledge of instrumentation principles, measurement techniques, and control systems
  • Familiarity with various instruments and devices such as Sensors, Transmitters, Indicators, Analysers, Control Valves and all types of valves.
  • Proficiency in using instrumentation design software and tools like AutoCAD P&ID etc.
  • Safety and Compliance: Understanding of safety regulations, standards, and practices applicable to instrumentation systems, such as Hazardous Area Classification, SIL (Safety Integrity Level), and functional safety.
  • Knowledge of relevant codes and its standards (e.g., ISA, IEC, API)
  • Problem-solving Abilities: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve issues related to instrumentation & piping systems.
  • Ability to interpret data, troubleshoot complex problems, and implement effective solutions
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Handling of the overseas Projects /Clients will be an advantage.
  • Should be a team player, quick learner, ability to adapt quickly & effectively etc.
  • Basic understanding of Air compressor/ other industries and peripheral devices.
