Role & responsibilities

Job Summary

The Zonal Manager Business Operations is responsible for overseeing and driving the performance of microfinance operations across the assigned zone. This role ensures business growth, portfolio quality, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency while leading and developing regional teams.

Key Responsibilities

Business Growth & Strategy

  • Drive disbursement, portfolio growth, and customer outreach across branches in the zone
  • Implement business strategies aligned with organizational goals
  • Identify new market opportunities and support branch expansion

Operations Management

  • Oversee day-to-day operations of branches within the zone
  • Ensure adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs) and policies
  • Monitor productivity, turnaround time, and service quality

Portfolio & Risk Management

  • Maintain portfolio quality by controlling delinquency, PAR, and NPAs
  • Review credit appraisal, collections, and recovery processes
  • Ensure compliance with internal risk and audit guidelines

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead, mentor, and motivate Area/Branch Managers and operational teams
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and training sessions
  • Build a high-performance and compliance-driven culture

Compliance & Governance

  • Ensure compliance with RBI/NBFC/MFI regulations and company policies
  • Coordinate audits and ensure timely closure of observations
  • Uphold ethical lending and customer protection practices

Reporting & MIS

  • Analyze MIS reports on business, operations, and portfolio performance
  • Submit periodic performance reports to senior management
  • Take corrective actions based on data-driven insights

Qualifications & Experience

  • Graduate/Postgraduate in Business, Finance, or related field
  • 12–18 years of experience in microfinance or financial services
  • Minimum 5–7 years in a managerial or zonal/regional role
