About The Role
WeRize is hiring a Zonal Legal Manager to lead the legal function for our Loan Against Property (LAP) business in the North Zone.The role involves managing property document due diligence, legal vendor coordination, risk mitigation, and legal support for credit, sales, and collections teams.You will work closely with internal teams and external legal partners to ensure smooth loan disbursals and legally compliant operations.Key Document Due Diligence
- Support the credit team in verifying property documents before loan sanction.
- Coordinate with law firms, advocates, and agencies to obtain search reports and ensure legal clearances.
- Guide teams on creating enforceable charges on properties and resolving documentation gaps.
- Liaise with government authorities for charge creation, rectification, and release.
Vendor Management
- Identify and onboard reliable legal vendors (law firms, search agencies, advocates).
- Monitor their performance, turnaround time, and compliance with internal policies.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and maintain effective communication with legal vendors.
Legal Compliance & Risk Mitigation
- Ensure compliance with property laws, registration norms, and mortgage regulations.
- Identify risks like defective titles, encroachments, or fraudulent documentation early.
- Work on resolving legal issues that affect loan enforce ability.
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Provide legal support to Credit, Risk, Sales, Collections, and Operations teams.
- Partner with the Collections team for legal recovery when needed.
- Keep management informed about changes in local laws and legal risks.
Governance & Reporting
- Maintain dashboards and MIS for vendor performance and legal risk tracking.
- Report any instances of malpractice, delays, or non-compliance by external legal partners.
Qualification
Who Were Looking For:
LLB (3-year or 5-year program) from a recognized university.
Experience
- 5- 7 years in legal roles, preferably in NBFCs or financial institutions handling LAP.
- Strong knowledge of property laws, SARFAESI, Stamp & Registration Acts, and local real estate.

- Proficient in MS Office, especially Excel, and familiar with legal tech tools.
