Job Description We are seeking a highly experienced and visionary Automation Testing Architect to define, design, and implement the overall test automation strategy and architecture for our large-scale, high-traffic e-commerce platform. This is a critical leadership role where you will be responsible for building robust, scalable, and maintainable automation frameworks and "Testing Kits" that cover all layers of testing, with a particular emphasis on End-to-End testing using Playwright, comprehensive API testing, and crucially, ensuring high standards of digital Accessibility and efficient Regression testing processes. You will not just be writing tests, but architecting the how and what of our automation efforts, leading technical discussions, mentoring engineers, evaluating and integrating new tools, and driving innovation in our quality engineering practices. Responsibilities Key Responsibilities: Define and own the comprehensive test automation strategy and architecture for the platform. Design, build, and maintain scalable automation frameworks and reusable "Testing Kits". Lead the implementation of advanced End-to-End tests using Playwright for complex web and API interactions. Develop and implement the strategy for automated Accessibility testing (WCAG) within the pipeline. Select, configure, and integrate automated accessibility testing tools into the framework. Optimize and maintain the regression test suite for efficiency, speed, and reliability. Lead the integration of all automated tests into the CI/CD pipeline, with a preference for Tekton experience. Provide technical leadership, guidance, and mentorship to automation engineers. Establish coding standards, best practices, and conduct code reviews for test automation development. Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams on quality initiatives and influence technical decisions. Qualifications Master's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering or MCA (Master of Computer Applications). 8+ years of progressive experience in software testing and automation, with significant experience in designing and building robust test automation frameworks for complex applications. Deep expertise with Playwright, including architecting and implementing scalable End-to-End test frameworks using Playwright for modern web applications. Proven experience defining and implementing automated accessibility testing strategies and integrating accessibility testing tools (Axe Core, Lighthouse, etc.) into automation frameworks against standards like WCAG. Strong understanding and practical experience with various regression testing strategies and techniques for optimizing large test suites. Expertise in JavaScript and TypeScript is essential, including experience with relevant testing libraries and frameworks. Extensive experience designing and implementing test automation architectural patterns (e.g., advanced Page Objects, modular design). Extensive experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines; experience with Tekton is highly preferred. Strong experience testing REST APIs comprehensively using automation tools (Playwright's API testing capabilities or dedicated API testing frameworks). Experience in a large-scale e-commerce or similar complex application domain, understanding the typical workflows (user accounts, catalog, cart, checkout, orders). Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and technical leadership skills. Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence technical direction. Experience with performance testing, security testing, or service virtualization. Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization (Docker). Experience exploring or implementing AI/ML techniques in testing. Specific architectural experience testing Next.js applications or similar React frameworks with SSR/CSR complexities. Technical Skills: Test Automation Frameworks: Playwright (Expert), Jest, Mocha, Vitest (familiarity). Languages : JavaScript (Expert), TypeScript (Expert). Web Technologies : HTML, CSS, DOM manipulation, modern JavaScript frameworks (understanding of React/Next.js strongly preferred).
